This is the edict Christ gave to His apostles, and the CCD at Holy Angels is endeavoring in every tangible way to follow this dictum. ln addition to the regular Methods Course available to all members, this year provision was made for discussion groups for those girls who had already successfully completed this course. Centering around current topics of controversy, some of the subjects treated in the discussion sessions were birth control, capi- tal punishment, and interracial marriage. Explaining how stained glass windows in the students' oratory could be used as a visual aid in teaching, Chris King, Vice- President, chooses the center window to demonstrate her views. Secretary Rose Luvera, President Riki Woods, and Librarian Dominica Luvera consider the possibilities. 0 The CCD was fortunate to have two guest speakers this year. Sister Philip Marie, who presently is teaching at St. Michael's Special School in Palisades Park, addressed the group on the real need for teachers for the mentally retarded. On May 2, Mr. Joseph J. Reilly, a teacher of CCD from the archdiocesan office, shared the riches of his teaching experiences with club members and underscored not only the importance of CCD work today, but also the vital necessity of having well-instructed teachers to carry on this apostolate. As the school year closed, some of the members were charting plans for summer follow-up work with their parish catechetical classes. 4 2

This year the Sodality aimed at making itself a dynamic part not only of HA's Sodalists, but also of every Christian's life. As an expression of their commitment to the Christian ideal in the modern world, girls worked with the chil- dren of St. Peter's Orphanage and the aged of St. Andrew's Home. Activities also included class dances whose proceeds were sent to help support missions in foreign lands. During Christmas the Sodality officers participated in the tableau of the an- nual Carol Program. Early in February, Sodal- ists spent a weekend at the Cenacle Retreat House in New Brunswick. With March came the Father-Daughter Communion Breakfast, a joint project sponsored by the Fathers' Club and the Sodality. With Holy Mass in the new, spacious auditorium and breakfast at Tammy Brook Country Club, it was not surprising that this year's attendance broke all previous rec- ords. Discussing the program at the communion breakfast, Maryellen Murphy, prefect of the Sodality, asks Rev. Henry Zenorini his opinion of it. Kathy Braun, Vice Prefect, Mr. Edmund F. Sause, Breakfast Chairman, Nancy Schaberg, Treasurer, and Kathy Glynn, Secre- tary, look on. Vatican Council ll was the inspiration that sparked the creation of the Liturgy Study Club. Members attempted through study, discussions, and field trips to enrich their knowl- edge and appreciation of the liturgy. As one of its special as- signments, the Liturgy Study Club prepared the altar and or- ganized the Offertory Procession for each First Friday Mass. Other activities this year were the sponsoring of an Interracial Day Cheld in conjunction with the NHSJ to promote racial un- derstandingg conducting a school assembly on the Advent liturgyg and finally the participation in the Byzantine Rite at a Mass at St. Anne's in Paterson.
