The 78-79 Girls’ Softball Team had a record of 4-D. The team was young with only two seniors. Laurie Gehrlein and Shebby Overton, but several individuals had outstanding records. Pitcher Laurie Witosky came through with a .260 average in her junior year. Sophomore Doreen Leroy, a standout at shortstop, did an excellent job. sporting a .428 average. Kathy Snider, a sophomore at first base, had an average of .372. and freshmen Jackie Watkins, shined with a .318 average. The girls gave Coach Niebauer an encouraging outlook for coming seasons. The Boys' Tennis Team finished the season with a 6-9 record. Coach Tom Jones feels that the team worked very hard to get where they are now from last year. Seniors Craig Kimmel and Craig Jensen played in the first and second man positions this year. Freshmen Jeff Brumfield and Scott Gourley. Junior Brad Howell, and Senior Kent Ewer rotated for the season's third, fourth, and fifth positions. The coach feels the team has shown much potential, and they should have a firm foundation for the future years.
