Newly introduced quarter courses offered students freedom of choice in the various areas of social studies. Classes were designed to meet indi- vidual interests and abilities. Subject offerings ranged from early civilization to current political issues. Freshmen did not have an elective choice, a full year course in Urban Geography being mandatory. Students in grades 10 through 12, not already enrolled in Honors or Advanced Placement classes, selected 9 week courses in World and American History. Sociolo- gy and an A.P. course in American History were introducted to juniors. Seniors were offered A.P. European History.
