W. Edwin Coon Principal BUILD TODAY FOR TOMORROW! At the circus, the entertaining and instructive performance of the actors catches the eye of the public. Usually what the public does not see is the extent of planning for health and welfare of the circus personnel and the study, practice and effort which are preliminary to each performance. So it is with the schools. What the public sees is the play or concert, not the hours of practice. What the public sees is the football game, baslcetball game or other athletic contest, not the afternoons of activity before the team is ready for the contest. What the public sees is Commencement, rarely the hours of study which have made the diploma possible. The extent of one's education, then, is determined largely by the extent of one's application, effort and study while in school. The extent of one's success after leaving high school is also largely determined by these same factors. As the poet Longfellow said, 'Build today, then, strong and sure, With a firm and ample base, And ascending and secure Shall tomorrow find its place. W. E. Coon hx Q- C18 .
