Class Prophecy As I started out of school lrfe rnto ltfe s school I was moseyrng down the long crooked road when all at once ll occurred to me that maybe I would meet some of the class of 52 So wrth my flngers crossed and a hopeful heart I kept trodxng along My wrsh was soon fulftlled for I saw Douglas Pappas on a soap box on the corner rn Chtcago blabber 1ng away To my surprtse he was telllng the people to vote for Henry Parsons for the next Prestdent I heard an atrplane go over and Douglas stopped campalgmng long enough to tell me that Margre Staudt was the A1rl1ne stewardess One quallfrcatron was to be unmarrred One mght I decrded to go to the Stork Club I was very much surprrsed to see Mary ,lane Ktrch dorng a hula dance I dectded to wart and see her perform once then guess who came to sell me some crgar ettes but Marllyn Hunton She told me that she and Bob Rttzdorf were gomg to start a radro program He was to be a second KOOK Ranger I wlshed them luck and left The next day I walked down the street and saw a b1ll board that sard If your speech ts bad come to Mary Lou Carstens Publ1cSpeak1ng School I went ID and talked to Mary Lou and she Sald that she had seen Darlene M1tchell the day before She was a major 1n the Wacs and was a b1g wheel 1n the war de partment George Campbell came rn to see Mary Lou wh1le I was there I wondered why Mary Lou acted so funny but I guess rt was because George had become the Reverend George Campbell That day for dmner I went to the Waldorf Astorta There I saw a very famtlxar face Jack Ross mam chef Jack served me adel1c1ous drnner Jack sa1d he Just happened to have two extra opera uckets and hoped I would Jotn h1m When we arrlved Bob Danforth who was usher found us two of the best seats As the curta1n rose I was astomshed to see Maretta Sttmpson and Bernard Powers domg the new verston ofthe Sabre Dance They currently had been dotng therr dance and song for T V Later we found Maretta and Bernard had won the1r fame through the splendld teachtngs of Jerry Ostrum He was operatmg a branch of the Arthur Murry Dance Studros and was also g1v1ng vocal lessons Wh1le shopplng rn one of the more promment stores my eye was taken anew by the beautxful weddtng gown belng modeled by Vanna I-Iamden When I commented on the beauty of the gown she was overjoyed to tell me that If was deslgned by the famous Harvey Madtson destgner of weddxng gowns Harvey told me that he l1ved ln the suburbs of New York across the street from the former Mary Ann Arthun who ran a m1nk farm Harvey sa1d that Mary Ann had marrxed a soldter and had settled down to rarse her mxnks My plane rrde home was very emoyable The p1lot Moms Blakeley let me r1de up front w1th htm AtSt Lours Mo we had to waxt over 24 hours and I decrded to go to the Barnum and Batley clrcus where Janet Curry was a bronc buster and Dauna Le Mond the worlds famous Lady Wrestler After arr1v1ng1n B1ll1ngs I saw posters that sa1d vote for Arnold George for Governor I drdn t watt to see 1f Arnold got the job but I heard he was marrred and had a pretty good chance for the offlce Iharled a tax1 and started for the Northern Hotel when pollce srrens started blowmg The parade was lead by the Chref of Polrce Dons Mlller I was very bewrldered to frnd her clearrng the road for actress Clarts Arnold Clarrs was dr1v1ng a yellow convert1ble w1th leopard sk1n seat covers and had just arrrved from Hollywood S1tt1ng rn the lobby of the Northern I heard a person hollerrng Shoe shrne 5:2 Who was rt but Bob Parker Bob told me he was trytng to work hrs way through college I gourneyed to Absarokee and started to go home As I sat at the drug store fountam and drank my coke I read the Absarokee news I saw the famtlrar name of Aarah Arney who currently gave advrce for the love lorn column Howard George the soda Jerk told me he had Just accepted a new posmon at Smg Slng Cas Warden of course I asked htm about Mary Lou Hergts He replted that she had been to hrs house recently trytng to sell Bendtx washers I was then ready to go home and stay as I had seen all of the class of 52 I5 . , ., . - , . . . Class Hlstor On the frrst day of school rn September 1949 twenty seven lrttle Freshmen embarked upon a new adventure tn lrfe that of obtarmnga hrgh school educatron The enthusrastrc starters were D Mrller presrdent C Arnold vrce presrdent M St1mpson secretary J Ostrum treasurer A Arney S Boylan M L Carstens V Harnden M J Krrch D Mrtchell V Mock G Mrerlot J Shaff M Staudt C Stokke J Taborsky C Hoover M Blakeley I Cook R Coryell A George H Madxson K Martln I Ostrum O G Parker B Powers I Ross and D Shaff Our leader through thrs year was Mr Carmrcheal who was assrsted by Mr Servert Mr Wescom M1ss Grllrn and Mrs Ruey A Peterson who was our class spon sor The brg events that year were the 1n1t1at1on the freshman return party parntmg the A and the prcnrc at Emerald Lake Dauna Le Mond and B Rrtzdorf jorned our group at the semester and K Martrn dropped out so our number was twenty erght as we passed to our sophomore year We felt QUIIC at home rn hrgh school by the tlme we were sophomores and at the begrnnrng of that year we found we had lost S Boylan J Shaff J Taborsky and D Shaff But we garned M A Arthun H George F Hill M Hunton and H Yates makrng our sophomore enrollment total thrrty the largest rn the school A complete change was made rn the faculty Wllh the exceptron of Mr Servert Our new gurdes were Mr Hunton superrntendent Mrs Hunton Mrss Harlan MISS Srmmons Mrss Bolmerer and Mr Steen our class sponsor Two new subJects band and vo ag were made avarlable to us thrs year Our classpres1dent wasj Ostrum M L Carstens was vrce presrdent O G Parker wassecretary treas urer and M Blakeley served as reporter Thrs was the year we got to 1n1t1ate the new rnnocent freshmen The other brg event was our three one act plays ent1tled B1lly s Frrst Date Where s That Report Card? and Luncheon For Srx We took rnventory at the openrng of our Junror year and found that we had lostj Cook I- Hrll C Hoover H Yates and O G Parker However J Curry D Pappas B Parker and B Smrth jorned our class makrng our enrollment twenty nrne Our offrcers were M Stxmpson presxdent M A Arthun vrce presrdent D Mrller secretary and D Le Mond treasurer The school s leader was agarn Mr Hunton assrsted by Mr Servert Mrs Hunton and Mtss Harlan contrnued from last year and four new teachers jorned our progressrve faculty They were Mrss Krertel Mrss Lang Mr Stenehjem and Mr Spraycar The frrst event of our rumor year was our Thanksgrvmg barn dance Everyone was excrted and pleased when we recelved our class rmgs rn January The next act1v1ty was our class play Janey s One Track Mrnd Mr Spraycar was our rndustrrous sponsor and w1th hrs help we put on the banquet and prom The colors were blue and srlver and our theme was Stalrway To The Stars Now we have come to our semor year rn hrgh school Our roll call rs almost the same as last year w1th B Sm1th leavxng the class and M L Hergls Jo1n1ng us G Mrerlot left at the semester leavrng us a total of twenty SIX proud semors M Blakeley has the xmportant Job of class presrdent thrs year M Staudt rs the veep D Mrller keeps the books and H Parsons takes care of the money Mr Orrmon and Mr Roth our class sponsor and advrsor replaced Mrss Harlan and Mr Servert on the faculty Thrs year has been fullof actrvrtres the frrst berng our class play Mrdnrght Then came our ptcture day rn Brllrngs onjanuary 14 followed by our senror dance on March 29 Our sneak day consrsted of tour mg the State PIISOU and Insane Asylum Our four busy years ln hlgh school were berng drawn to a grand ftnal wlth the lovely banquet and prom the Junrors gave rn our honor The day for whrch we were wart 1ng and workrng flnally arrrved on May 21 our graduatron ntght 14 1 1 ' ' ' ' 1 I 1 , 1 - 1 3 - 1 1 1 1 I - 1 - 1 . . , . , 1 1 , 1 , . , . , . , . , . , - 1 1 , . , 1 , 1 , 1 , 1 , 1 , . , - 1 1 1 1 1 , 1 1 . , - 1 - 1 1 - 1 1 - . . . . . . . ,, ,, ' 1 1 1 . . , 1 1 , . , . , . 1 1 . , - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 , , ' . . 1 1 1 1 , . .
