tfetnecvmiitf 1966 Faculty members brought back the Spirit of Homecoming 1926 by leading cheers at the pep assembly. Homecoming 1966, the spotlight of fall activities, began with a week of activities for the first time in Lincoln ' s history. An assem- bly was held the Monday of Homecoming Week to reminisce about the first Homecom- ing. Mr. Henry Sanders related the beginning of the King and Queen tradition, the first dance, and the selection of an Abe. Maroon Day, Button Day, when buttons with a picture of the football captains were sold, Gold Day, and Mum Day filled out the week. The fcotball team was introduced at the pep assembly and greeted with a standing ovation from the student body. Seniors enthusiastically anticipated the Homecoming game by congregating around the Homecoming Sign on the front lawn. —24—

The Combo warms up during assembly for the sock-hop. Friday brought a pep assembly, sock hop, pep rally, and the game. The cheerleaders feverishly decorated the field with the con- stant threat of rain. The Seniors cried over the dampened Senior Sign. The rain held off while Queen Delana Barber was crowned and given roses by Max McCaw. An after game hootenanny, sponsored by Girls ' Club, ended the evening ' s activities. 1 u The art department paints a mural twenties for the dance. of a homecoming in the Cheerleaders supervise field decorations for the Homecoming game. Larry Heiser and Steve Booth put finishing touches on a handsome, headless couple. In the solitude of the gym, preparations begin to provide a festive at- mosphere for the Home- coming dance. —25—
