1965-66 A structure stands in winter cold Its arches bright, with sunlight-told It symbolizes the hopes of years A promise fulfilled as completion nears A dream that has starred in every heart Are dreams that are built in every part A new addition to our cherished school A shining gym and swimming pool. Not only physically have we grown But greater skills we ' ve never known. Classes evolved to explore new mysteries New English, math, and Russian History. Construction of Lincoln ' s new athletic educational facilities were just beginning to take shape when this picture was taken shortly after school opened in September. Valued at 1.4 million dollars, the two story circular building will house a regulation swimming pool on the first floor with a walkout entrance on the west side of the parking lot. Pool seating will accommodate 500 spectators. Gym facilities in the top story include a regulation basketball floor and a circular corridor encompassing the gym which will serve as a practice area for all athletes. Seating capacity in the gym will be 3,160. An outside corridor will connect the structure with the school and will run the length of the shops area on the south side.
