Sandra Hill . . . Sandy belonged to Pep Club at Lin- coln and served on the Banquet com- mittee. Ambition: To train at A. LB. Patricia Ann Hoff . . . Patty participated in Future Teach- ers three years and was elected Merit Chairman for two. In tenth grade she belonged to the Latin Club and Leaders Club. Patty was an active member of the Pep Squad and in both tenth and twelfth was a mem- ber of the band and out for tennis. At church Patty was a member of the choir, C.Y.O., and was librarian in the church library. Ambition: To become a nun. Barbara M. Jerkewitz . . . Barbara came to Lincoln in her junior year from Wichita, Kansas, where she belonged to the Pep Squad, German Club, Glee Club, and was chosen KWBB Sweetheart from her school. At Lincoln Barbara was a member of the Future Teachers Club and Pep Club. In her senior year Barbara served on the Banquet com- mittee. She also was a member of Junior Achievement for two years, and was elected treasurer of her company. Ambition: To attend beauty school. Gearold Johnson, Jr. . . . Jerry participated in swimming for three years and received a letter each season. He took first place in All- City 1962, the same in both the 1961 and 1962 District meet, and came in second in the state with his specialty, the butterfly. Jerry served as a monitor ho twelfth grade and was Oil the Informal committee in 12A. He was out for track one season, and was a member of the Lettermen Club. He played on his church soft- ball team for two years. Ambition: To attend the Navy Skin- diving School. Penny Jane Johnson . . . Penny belonged to the Future Teachers Club, Future Nurses Club, and Senior Choir all three senior high years. In tenth grade she was a member of Latin Club, Nurses staff, and Y-Teen, was out for ten- nis and a monitor. During her last feWO yea l-s Penny served as secretary of Future Nurses and outside of school was treasurer of her C.Y.F. group. She served on the Informal committee in her senior year. Ambition: To become a nurse. Barbara Lee Jones . . . Barbara helped with programs and props in the play We Were Young That Year in her sophomore year. She was a member of the Nurses Staff in twelfth grade. In her senior year Barbara served on the Informal Committee. Ambition : To become a secretary. Claudia Frances Jones . . . Claudia was a member of F.T.A. for three years, Latin Club for one, and Pep Club for two years. During her senior year Claudia served on the Homecoming and Informal com- mittees. Outside of school Claudia belonged to C.Y.O., and was elected secretary of her Junior Achievement Company. Ambition: To attend Northwest Mis- souri State Teachers College, and major in languages. Jean Ann Jones . . . Jean Ann was a member of the Drill Team and Secretarial Staff. She belonged to Latin Club, Lead- ers Club and Student Council. She was on the honor roll and a monitor in twelfth grade. In her senior year she served on the Informal Com- mittee. Ambition: To become a nurse at Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. Sheryle Lynn Keefer . . . Sheryle was a cheerleader for two years, earning two letters. She was a member of Latin Club, Leaders Club, and was treasurer of Girls Club in her junior year, and presi- dent in her senior year. She nerved on Student Council, as chairman of the Friendship committee, and was treasurer of Student Council in her senior year. She was selected to lead the ' 62 January class proces- sional and recessional. In tenth grade she was elected Polio Queen, and in 1961 was among the five finalists for Homecoming Queen. In jour- nalism Sheryle was feature column- ist of the Railsplitter. In 12A she served on the Baccalaureate com- mittee. She was chosen a Drake Re- lays Princess. Ambition: To major in elementary education at Drake. Rosemary R. Kellen . . . During her last three years at Lin- coln Rosemary was a member of Future Nurses and Pep Club. In her sophomore and junior years she be- longed to Latin Club. She held the positions of vice president of Future Nurses, president of Future Nurses, and representative to Girls Club. During her junior year Rosemary was on the student council. In 12A she was on the Stenographic com- mittee. Outside of school Rosemary was secretary of her C.Y.O. Ambition: To go into nurse ' s train- ing at Mercy Hospital. —25—

Phyllis was a member of French Club for three years, and nerved as president and vice president in elev- enth grade. Phyllis belonged to Pep Club for two years, and Leaders Club for one semester. In hei senior year she was a member of F.T.A. Phyllis served on Office staff for one year, and also as a monitor. In 12A she served on the Banquet committee. Ambition: To attend college and be- come an interpreter. Linda Gail Harrison . . . Linda was the third prize winner in Polk County Thrift Essay contest in twelfth grade. She belonged to Fu- ture Nurses in eleventh grade, and Pep Club and Leaders Club in elev- enth and twelfth grades. Linda was a member of F.T.A. tor three years, serving as vice president of the club In her senior year. In eleventh grade she served on Student Council and Office staff. In 1 2 A she served on the Informal committee. Ambition: To obtain a degree in En- glish Education from Northwest Mis- souri State College. Karen Lee Heck . . . Karen was a member of Pep Club and Homemaking staff in eleventh grade. In 12A she served on the Stenographic committee. Outside of school Karen taught Sunday school at her church. Ambition: To attend Drake or A. LP. Diane Ruth Heiser . . . In eleventh grade Diane belonged to Pep Club. During her senior year she was a member of the Drill Team, and served on the Informal committee. Outside of school Diane participated in her church youth group. Ambition: To attend college and become a nurse. Arthur (). Hcnlinc . . . Art participated in baseball in elev- enth and twelfth grades. Outside of school he was treasurer of the United Presbyterian Young Peoples Fellow- ship. In 12A he served on the Cap and Gown committee. Melvin Henning . . . Mel went out for baseball in his junior year. Ambition: To attend Iowa State Uni- versity and major in engineering. Hill Hensyel . . . Hill served on the Student Council and was a member of the movie committee in his sophomore year. He was elected chairman of the Student Center committee in twelfth grade. In 12A, Hill was on the Commencement Announcement com- mittee. Ambition: To attend Drake or S.U.I. Jcannine Hiatt . . . Jeannine was a member of Senior Chorus and Girls Club for three years. At her church she belonged to the M.F.F. group and was a par- ticipant in the church choir. Martha Kay Highland . . . Martha was one of Lincoln ' s Madri- gal Singers and a member of Senior Choir for three years. In tenth grade she was treasurer of Y-Teens, and a member of Latin Club. In both tenth and eleventh Martha participated in Future Teachers as vice president and Pep Club. She was a monitor two semesters, and served on the Treasury committee. Ronald 6. Kent . . . Ron was on Student Council in tenth grade. He belonged to Bible Club for three years and was elected vice president for the last two years. Ron belonged to Senior Chorus and Boys Glee Club. During his senior year he acted as queen escort for the Homecoming game. Outside of school, Ron was president of his youth group, belonged to the church bas- ketball and baseball team, and sang in the choir. He served on the Commencement Committee. Ambition: To attend Gordon College and Seminary in Massachusetts. David A. Kirkman, Jr. . . . Dave served as vice president of his graduating class as well as presi- dent of D.E.C.A. Club. He was also selected as president of the state D.E.C.A. Club. He participated in football, baseball and basketball in his sophomore year, and served on the Student Council. Dave was chosen to lead the ' 62 January class proces- sional and recessional. Ambition: To go to Drake and into the construction business. Mike KlinRe . . . In his junior year, Mike was on Student Council. Ambition: To become a can enter. Charles Kurtz . . . Chuck attended Ryan High School, Omaha, Nebraska in his sophomore year where he was president of the Drama Club and assistant director of the spring play. He was also sec- retary of the student council, and served on the Service committee. In his junior year Chuck attended Cen- tral High School in Omaha and par- ticipated in drama and speech activi- ties there. In 12 A Chuck served on the Cap and Gown committee. Ambition: To attend Drake Univer- sity. Linda Lee Latimer . . . For three years Linda was a member of Leaders Club, band and choir. In tenth grade she participated in the play We Were Young That Year. ' In her junior and senior years Linda was a majorette and played clarinet in the All-City Band. She was on the tennis team for three years, and a monitor for two. In her senior year she worked on the picture page of the Railsplitter and served on the Get Together com- mittee. Outside of school Linda was a member of Rainbow and treasurer of Junior Achievement. Ambition: To become a radio-TV writer. Barbara Ann Lee . . . In her sophomore year Barbara was a member of Future Teachers, Y- Teens, and appeared in the school play, We Were Young That Year. Barbara was on Drill Team for two years and served as a monitor for two semesters. Barbara also sang in the Senior Choir and was on the Informal committee in 12A. Ambition: To attend the State Col- lege of Iowa and become a mathe- matics teacher. Sharon Kaye Lewis . . . While at Lincoln Sharon was a mem- ber of Leaders Club and was elected president in twelfth grade. She was in Latin Club and on the Office staff for two years. In eleventh grade she was a flag twirler, and as a senior earned a letter in cheerlead- ing. Sharon sang in Senior Choir for three years. For two years she served on the Student Council and was electee! historian. In journal- ism she was co-columnist of the newspaper. Sharon was elected treasurer of the senior class. Ambition: To attend Drake. Anita Jo Logan . . . Anita was a member of the Pep Club for three years and was in Senior Choir for two. She served on Student Council one semester and worked in the Student Center and on the bookkeeping staffs in her senior year. Ambition: To attend Drake Univer- sity and become an accordian teacher. Nanci Ann Long . . . In tenth grade Nanci was a member of French Club and a monitor. In her senior year she participated in Drill Team and served on the Home- making staff and the Informal com- mittee. Ambition: To attend college. Mark H. McBeth . . . Mark went out for football as a sophomore. For three years he sang in the Madrigal Singers, Boys Glee Club, and Senior Choir. In 12A Mark served on the Get Together committee. Ambition: To fill my service obliga- tion, and get a good job. -26—
