Mildred Jean Palladino . . . Mildred has served Lincoln by par- ticipating in Nurse ' s Club. Pep Club, Office Staff, Hospitality and Usher Committee and Latin Club. She has served as Treasurer and Historian of the Nurse ' s Club. Mildred re- ceived honorable mention on the honor roll twice. In sports Mildred received a letter for golf. She was on the Banquet Committee in 12A. Ambition: To attend Mercy Hospital School of Nursing after g raduation. William Raymond Park . . . One of Lincoln ' s top-notch athletes describes Bill. He has been in base- ball for three years receiving three letters, while still receiving two letters in both football and basket- ball. He was chosen for two All- City teams ; first team baseball, second team football. Bill has served on Student Council and has been in Service Homeroom. During his junior year he ran for the office of Chief-Justice and a highlight of his senior year was being a candidate for Homecoming King. Outside of school he bowls for the Abes high school bowling league. Ambition: Attend State University of Iowa. Jeri Lynn Parsons . . . Jeri came to Lincoln from North High School where she took part in Drama, Leaders Club, Future Teach- ers Club, and was a member of the North High Flagtwirlers. At Lin- coln, Jeri has served in the Girls Club and helped to organize the Lincoln Flagtwirlers. During her 12A semester, Jeri served on the Get-Together Committee. Ambition: Go into stenographic work. Donald R. Pearson . . . Don ' s interest in music and his musical ability led him to be chosen drum major for the band. He is in pit band and was also in all-city band. Don was on the Hospitality and Usher Committee, Student Coun- cil and served as a hall monitor. Ambition: To go to Drake and major in medicine. Jack Marvin Petersen . . . Jack has been a member of both the junior and senior Student Councils. He has served as a monitor and has been on the honor roll. He has participated in tennis and was the manager for the tennis team. Out- side of school Jack has been a Kiwanian of the month from Lin- coln and has been a member of J. A. for three years where he re- ceived a Junior Executive Award. Ambition: To attend Simpson and major in business administration. 1,14 A Ralph S. Petersen . . . Ralph ' s deep bass voice won him the honor of being chosen all-state bass soloist. He has also been in Madrigal. Senior Chorus, and Boy ' s Glee Club for three years, and was a member of the Boy ' s Quartette. Ralph was also a member of the All-City Band. He has received two letters in tennis and one in basket- ball. During his 12A semester he served on the Banquet Committee. Ambition : To go to Drake and major in musical education. Wendell Franklin Piper . . . Wendell is a boy who works hard and has a winning personality. He has participated in track and foot- ball. Outside of school, he belongs to FCYF church group and works on cars as a hobby. Ambition: To attend Dunwoody In- stitute and study mechanics. John William Porter . . . John entered Lincoln from Cedar Falls High in Cedar Falls, Iowa where he participated in football in tenth grade. At Lincoln he took part in Distributive Education and belongs to Lincoln ' s chapter of the Distributive Education Club of America. During his senior year he served on the Class Day Com- mittee. Ambition : Join the Navy. Lee Roy Porter . . . Lee Roy came to Lincoln from Glen- dale High, Glendale, Arizona in 11th grade. Lee Roy ' s hobbies are work- ing on cars, boating, and water skiing. During his 12A semester, Lee Roy served on the Get-Together Com- mittee. He is now enrolled at the Northwestern School of Taxidermy, taking a correspondence course. Ambition : To become a taxidermist. Alec Joseph Quijano . . . Quiet but friendly is Alec. At the beginning of his junior year. Alec entered Lincoln from Dowling High. While at Lincoln he has participated in basketball and baseball, receiving one letter for basketball and two for baseball. During his senior year, Alec also served on the Informal Committee. Ambition: To go to college. 24

Michael James Miller . . . Mike has been a credit to Lincoln in the field of sports. He has been out for basketball, football and golf and received two letters for football and golf. He has been in Student Council and served on the hospital ity and usher committee. During his 12 A semester he served on the Treasury Committee. Ambition: To go to (Irinnell and enter pre-law school. Carol Jo Mitchell . . . Carol was on the honor roll for several semesters in Junior high and has been a member of Secretarial Staff for two years. Her hobbies in- clude dancing, badminton and draw- ing. During her 12 A semester, Carol served on the Get Together Commit- tee. Ambition: To become a good sten- ographer. Gladys Jean Murphy . . . Gladys ' interest in music led her to be a part of the Senior Chorus for four years. She has been a Hall Monitor and also a member of the Social Committee. During her Senior year Gladys served as back page edi- tor for the Railsplitter and served on the Informal Committee. Her hobbies include swimming and she is also a member of C.Y.O. Ambition: Become a secretary. Janet Kae Newman . . . Friendliness with a smile describes Janet. She has served Lincoln as a member of the Homemaking Staff for two years. In 12 A she was chosen co-chairman of the staff. Janet was on the Get-Together Com- mittee in 12A. Ambition: To attend beauty school. Dan Byron Mitchell . . . Always willing to help describes Danny. He helped build the home- coming emblem. He has been in art for three years and is a member of Dorian Art Club. He served on the (Jet Together Committee in his 12 A semester. He went out for foot- ball in tenth grade. He belongs to Road Knights Hot Rod Club. Ambition: Go into the car business. Jean Elizabeth Moore . . . Being a member of the Bible Club here at Lincoln keeps Jean busy while bowling and skating rates high on her list of sports. She served on the Get Together Com- mittee during her 12A semester. Outside of school she is a member of the B.T.Y. church group. Ambition : Attend a college in Min- nesota. Patricia Ann Nielsen . . . Pat came to Lincoln from Sibley High School where she served in Glee Club, Pep Club and G.R.A. Pat ' s activities out of school include a membership in the Lutheran League. Pat ' s hobbies are painting, tennis, swimming, and playing the piano. Ambition: Become a nurse. Lois Anne Nithman . . . Lois ' s friendliness and her fine ability to lead won her the honor of being assistant drill cadet leader for the Drill Team. Outside of school this red haired lass belongs to Rainbow and also helped build the homecom- ing emblem. Her hobby is sewing. She helped to make the uniforms for the Drill Team. During her 12A semester she served on the Informal Committee. Ambition: To go to school in Min- neapolis and become a laboratory technician. Gary Lee Mosley . . . Gary ' s interest in science led him to be a part of the Saturday physics and chemistry classes. He has been on Student Council and served as a hall monitor. During his 12A semester Gary served on the Com- mencement Announcement Commit- tee. Ambition: To major in natural science at Grandview Jr. College. Charles Wayne Norris . . . A smile on his face and a kind word for all describes Chuck. He participated in sophomore football, and helped with the Senior Rail. He was on the (let-Together Com- mittee in 12A. Outside of school he belongs to the Methodist Youth Fel- lowship. Ambition: To go to the University of Kansas. — 23 —

Stephen Harold Randall . . . The Man with the Bi ? heat. de- scribes Steve, drummer for The Strikes. Lincoln ' s combo. Steve entered Lincoln in eleventh grade from the high school division of Luther College. At Luther he par- ticipated in Student Council, First Choir, and went out for football, basketball, and baseball. He VM al- 8o drummer for the college band. At Lincoln, Steve has been out for football, baseball, basketball, in which he received a letter, and tennis, in which he received two letters. Steve was a percussionist in the first band and ' pit band and was percussion- ist in the Des Moines All-City Hand. Ambition: To mttr Iowa State Uni- versity and become an architectural engineer. Thomas C. Rhodes . . . Tom ' s varied abilities and wide in- terests have made him an outstand- ing student. He was president of the Art Club and in the Art Homeroom. He was a winner in the Scholastic Art Award Contest, and designed the cover for the student directory and a school play program. Tom has been vice-president and chief justice of the Student Council and a mem- ber of the executive board of the All- City Student Council. Tom has been on the honor roll, chairman of the Get-Together Committee, and a mem- ber of the Informal Committee. He has been Kiwnnian of the month and a KDPS announcer. Ambition: To go to lowi State Teachers College. Henry Rivera . . . Hank, as he is known to his friends, transferred to Lincoln his sophomore year from Dowling High School, where he played two years of football. Playing guard on Lin- coln ' s team, he proved to be a rug- ged and valuable player and received a varsity football letter. He also participated in track, in the shot- put and discus throw events. One of Henry ' s top honors at Lincoln was being chosen a candidate for Homecoming King of I960. Ambition: To join the Marine-. Jeannette K. Robbins . . . Vitality and determination have made Jeannie an all around student at Lincoln. She has been on the honor roll all through junior and senior high, and is in the upper five per cent of her class. She has been in Madrigal homeroom since tenth grade and has also sung in the Senior Chorus, Girls Glee Club, Triple Trio, and Trio. She has participated in Latin Club and Girls Club, and also has been both on the Lincoln and Intra-Des Moines Student Councils. Ambition: To go to Drake and major in Pharmacy. William Dale Robinson . . . Hill has been a leader as well as an athlete while at Lincoln. He received two letters in spring track and was on the District Championship Track Team in 1959. He also participated in swimming, and has been in Stu- dent Council for three semesters and ran for Chief-Justice in the 1961 campaign. Hill was sports columnist on the Railsplitter and served on the Prom Committee in 12A. Ambition: Go to Graceland College and take Liberal Arts. Harold Dennis Root . . . Denny is a quiet lad with a warm personality. He has taken part in sophomore football, and also belong s to the Distributive Education Club of America. Ambition: Become a good salesman. Karen Marina Fox Rule . . . Combine beauty and sweetness and that ' s Karen. Karen came to us from Sao Paulo, Brazil through the American Field Service as a foreign exchange student. Karen is a member of Student Council and also All- City Student Council. She has par- ticipated in French Club, Latin Club, and Usher Committee. She is also in Senior Y-Teens and Senior Chorus. Karen was honored by be- ing chosen to march on Lincoln ' s newly formed Drill Team, and by being chosen to be a homecoming attendant. Outside of school Karen was vice-president of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church Youth Group. Ambition: Become an interpreter. Henrietta Jean Ryan . . . Henrietta came to Lincoln from Altoona High. While at Altoona, she was a member of the Drill Team, and worked on the school paper. While at Lincoln, she was a member of Leaders Club, Drill Team and served as hall monitor. Henrietta ' s outside activities include Rainbow. C.Y.F. and W.I.B.C. (Women ' s In- ternational Bowling Congress). Dur- ing her 12 A semester, she served on the Get Together Committee. Ambition : To work for some branch of law enforcement. Larry Ralph Sanford . . . Larry ' s easy manner won him the honor of being parliamentarian of the DECA Club. Larry was a mem- ber of Distributive Education for two semesters during his senior year. Ambition: To major in drafting at Drake. Victoria Maria Scaglione . . . Brightness and gaiety are traits of Vicky ' s personality. During school she has been in Drill Team, she was secretary of Group B. She also was on the Friendship Committee, Stu- dent Council and office staff. Dur- ing her senior year she helped on the Homecoming Float. Her hobbies include bowling, swimming and wa- ter skiing. During her 12A semester, she served on the Prom Committee. Ambition : Go to business school and tour Europe this summer. 25 —
