Rolland Clarence Townsend . . . This busy youn f man has been very active in the music department at Lincoln. He has i)Iayed the cornet in the band and he was elected drum major in twelfth Rrade. Rollie served one semester on student coun- cil and has participated in tennis, earning one letter. Out of .school, he is a member of DeMolay and has held offices in this organization for four years. Rolland claims his bipr- Kest thrill is yet to come and his talents are playing the cornet and tennis. He has many friends includ- inK Hob, (Jeorj e and Croll. Rolland has j)lanned far ahead in the future for he plans to attend Central Col- lege for four years and then into the Marines. Ambition : To be successful in what- ever I choose to do and make those around me happy. Germaine Irene Trisler . . . An attractive girl with light brown hair, snappy brown eyes and a per- sonality that makes her liked by all, describes none other than Cer- maine. This busy girl has been a member of senior chorus and faith- fully served on nurse ' s staff. She has many hobbies but the outstand- ing ones seem to be swimming, skin diving, being with T.H.H. and climb- ing in and out of windows. Student council has been fortunate to have this lass serve for four semesters, she was also a member of the Intra Des Moines City Council. Cermaine was in the school play Behind This Mask. Terry, Linda L., Linda J. and Nancy are just a few of the many friends she can be .seen with. Germaine says her biggest thrill was receiving her ring from Terry. Ambition: To have many friends and look back with no regrets. Marie Elena Van Drew . . . If you are looking for Marie you ' ll find her with Vicky, Jo, Gladys, Sally, Karen and Carolyn. Her hob- bies are bowling and playing the accordian and she says her biggest thrill is yet to come. While in senior high, she has belonged to French Club and Leaders Club. Marie claims all of her many talents are hidden. Serving Lincoln well, Marie has served on student council two se- mesters and gym staff for three semesters. In journalism she has broadcast at K.D.P.S. Ambition: To always be happy and make my parents proud of me. Becky Louise Van Law . . . A tall slender girl with pretty light brown hair, describes liecky. This attractive lass came to us from Na- than Weeks and she has been a real credit to A.L.H.S. Becky wa awarded a gold key from the lou.i High School Art Exhibition for her great abilities in this field. Alice, as she is known to some of her friends, has served on homemaking staff and has been a faithful mem- ber of Leaders Club. Art is Becky ' s only hobby, while going i)laces with Bob is her talent. Miss Moroney, Mr. Hoffman and Mr. Haskins rate high on her list of favorite teachers. Becky can always be seen with Bob, while she says getting her second ring from Bob will be her biggest thrill. Ambition: To look in the past and always be able to say, I ' ve earned the respect of my loved ones. Sharon Rae Villines . . . Shar. a v ' ery active and popular girl, has been a real credit to Lin- coln. She has been on the honor roll, secretary for Dorian Art Club one semester, a member of senior chorus and on art staff. Sharon also has been a member of three clubs, Dorian, French and Leaders. Be- sides these honors in school, outside of school Sharon won a scholarship to art clas.ses at the Art Center. She cla ims her big talent is saying the right thing to the wrong person and her main hobby is getting cer- tain people out of embarrassing situ- ations. A few of her many friends include Anne, Bev, Nancy, Sandy, Carolyn and Sharon. Shar has been a member of art homeroom for three years and says Mr. Hoffman is her favorite teacher. Ambition : Become a hermit. Susan Kay Volkamer . . . Sue is a pretty girl with bright blue eyes, a sunny smile and one of Lincoln ' s best cheerleaders. Cheer- ing at the games and being with Jim are two of this girl ' s hobbies. Saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and talking to Jim are Sue ' s talents. She has received many hon- ors at A.L.H.S. as she was home- coming princess in 1957 and home- coming queen candidate in 1959. She has been out for golf one year and received two letters in cheerleading. Sue has worked in the counselor ' s room three years and was a mem- ber of homemaking staff. In the journalism field. Sue was chosen to be sport ' s columnist of the news- paper. Some of her many friends in- clude Jim, Deanna, Sondra, Linda, Betty, Carol and Becky. Ambition : To live a happy and suc- cessful life and make my loved ones proud of me. Victory Lee Voshell . . . This peppy little lass can be seen with Marie, Jo, Sally, Gladys and Carolyn around Lincoln ' s halls. Swimming, i)laying the piano and bowling rate high on her list of hobbies, while playing the piano and acting are two of her best talents. Vic was organization editor of the Senior Rail and she was also a member of the Greenhorn staff. Vic has served Lincoln loyally by being a member of French Club, gym staff and has served on student council. She has carried on with her talent for acting by being in three plays at Lincoln. She was also a broadcaster at KDPS. Vic ' s big- gest thrill will be graduation. Ambition : To live a happy success- ful life and make my parents proud of me. Becky Wallace . . . An attractive lass, rather quiet but a true friend to all describes Becky. This busy girl has faithfully served as a hall monitor for four semesters. Swimming and slumber j arties are just two of her hobbies while she says her talents are well hidden. Latin Club has been fortunate to have Becky as an active member for two years. Outside of school. Junior Achievement and Rainbow have kept her very busy. Sue, Sondra, Ellen and Judi are just a few of Becky ' s many friends. Ambition: To be like the Northern Star always pointed in the right direction. Ronnie Jay Weddell . . . This ambitious lad is a member of the Grill Club. He was active in football last year and i layed on the Clifton Heights basketball team, participating in all their games. His team won five out of seven games played. He can usually be seen with Ronnie, Bob, Pete and Bill. Driv- ing doesn ' t seem to interest him be- cause he can be seen walking to and from school early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Ronnie likes swimming if he isn ' t playing football or ba.seball with his friends. His biggest thrill will be graduation. Ambition: To be successful in what- ever I do and make everyone around me happy. Donald Eugene Willett . . . Don came to Lincoln from Tech with many and varied abilities. He served on student council two semesters, hall monitor two semesters and senior chorus two semesters. Don showed his athletic ability by par- ticipating in wrestling. Don belongs to the Young Peoples Church Organ- ization outside of school. Don says bowling and cars are his main hob- bies while playing the piano is his only talent. He claims his biggest thrill was going to Wyoming with his family. Don pals around with Larry. Dennis and the rest of the boys. Ambition: To be successful and have a good time. — 33-

Philip Michael Tamasi . . . Mick, as he is known to all his friends, can usually be seen with Rofirer. Virpril, Dick, Al. Sonny and the rest of the boys. In sports he has been out for baseball, football and swimminpT. He received one let- ter in football and one in baseball. Mick has been in service homeroom 117, four semesters and has served on student council for two semesters. Outside of school, Mick belongs to DeMolay. His many hobbies include fishint;, baseball, hockey and pool and his hig thrill will be Kraduatinf? from collepre. Mick has been on the honor roll from eijrhth through twelfth jjrrade. His talents are chem- istry, pool and not jrettinR caught for certain things. He leaves all his test tubes to his brother and Mr. Stone. Ambition : To graduate from Iowa State University with a masters de- cree in Nuclear Enprineerinpr. Lmrry Edward Tarr . . . Larry has many friends including Virgil, Nancy, Dennis, Terry, Don and the boys. He can be seen most of the time with Nancy, though. He has served two semesters on student council and was out for wrestling and tennis. Among his hobbies are working on the car, swimming, hunting, fishing, while arguing with Nancy seems to be his talent. Larry says his favorite teachers are Mr. Wood and Mr. Miller. He claims his biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition: To live a long and suc- cessful life. Robert Lewis Taylor . . . Bob came to us from Hartford, Iowa. He can usually be seen with Don Pearson, Jack Peterson and Tom Wood. He played basketball at Hartford High and that was his biggest thrill. Hob is an active boy in Junior Achievement and Y.M.C.A. Bob has also been on the honor roll. Ambition: To belong to U.S.A.F. and go to the moon in a U.S.A.F. rocket. Dennis Frank Thielke . . . Dennis came to Lincoln from Roose- velt. He has been out for wrestling, tennis and baseball. He has received one monogram in wrestling. This young lad claims his hobbies are hunting, camping and bowling while his biggest thrill is yet to come. Dennis belongs to J. A. and the Trampoline Club. He says his talents are well hidden. If you hear some- one say, That dumb thing, you might see Dennis with Danny, Doug, Tom, Jim and the rest of the gang. Ambition : To be successful and live a happy life. Joyce Ellen Thomas . . . Joyce pals around with Mary St. John and Paula Thomas, mainly. She has been very active in church func- tions. She was vice-president of Young Peoples, secretary of Sunday school and active in church socials. Joyce has also been on gym staff for one year. Joyce says her one hobby is sewing and one of her many talents is typing, (iraduation will be Joyce ' s biggest thrill. Ambition : To make my parents and that certain someone proud of me. Leonard Thomas . . . This handsome red hea l has served his school well. He has received two letters in swimming, two letters in football and one letter in track. Lennie has served two years on student council and was president of the social committee. He has been a hall monitor, on nurses staff and the school delivery boy. Leonard, who is known to his friends as L.T., was the Lincoln 1959 Homecoming King and he says this was his biggest thrill. He was a member of the Dorian Art Club and states his hob- bies are anti(|ues and driving. L. T. says that he can be seen with the boys. Ambition: TT:i ' ;i t-nod time in lifo. Paula Laverne Thomas . . . Swimming, dancing and bowling are this nice little gal ' s hobbies, while she claims her talents are very well hidden. Paula has served one se- mester on gym staff and one se- mester on student council while at Lincoln. She says her favorite sub- jects are shorthan l and typing and her favorite teachers are Miss Ealy and Miss Sutter. Paula can be seen with Diane, Katie, Sharon, Carolyn and Sharon. She says her biggest thrill will be graduation. Ambition : To make my parents proud of me and live a happy life with a certain someone. (iary Michael Thompson . . . This active, lively lad is better known as Mike around Lincoln ' s halls. Mike can be seen with L. T. and the boys. He was sports editor of the Railsplitter and he was ac- tive in swimming and baseball. Mike received two letters in swimming. His hobbies inclu le swimming, hunt- ing and traveling. He seems to think his talents are deeply hidden. His biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To be hapi)y and suc- cessful in whatever I attempt. Beverly Joy Tims . . . A friendly smile and a sweet per- sonality describes this busy little gal who spends much of her time playing tennis. Hev, as she is known to her many friends, has been in art service homeroom 139 for four years. Her hobbies are danc- ing, parties, art and writing short stories. She has served her school well by being in student council for two semesters and being a mem- ber of Dorian Art Club. Bev has re- ceived several honors such as being treasurer of student council, histori- an of Dorian Art, Interclub coun- cil officer and Bev says, Having many friends is my greatest honor. Serving the journalism department by being co-editor for radio KDPS is also credited to Bev. She claims Sandy, Nancy, Norma, Sharon, Nan, Carol, Radine and the rest of the class as her friends. Ambition: To be a writer and profit from every mistake. Nancy Joyce Torri . . . Swimming and boating are this at- tractive girl ' s favorite hobbies. Nancy claims her biggest talent is arguing with Larry. She has served Lincoln by being a member of stu- dent council for one semester and has been a faithful member of the gym staff for two semesters. She also helped in organizing the play Behind This Mask. When not with Larry, Nancy can be seen with Linda, Bev, Germaine and Sandy. Nancy claims her biggest thrill is yet to come. Janet Kay Wise . . . Whenever you hear ' Oh Yeah ! you can be sure Janet is near. Janet came to Lincoln in seventh grade from Army Post. She has been a faithful member of the Applied Arts Club and claims her most embarrass- int? moment was New Years ' eve. In her spare time, Janet can usual- ly be found with Barb, Kay, Norman, Mike. Rosi, Bert, Phyllis, Polly, Dianna and Pearl. She enjoys bowl- ing and roller skating; and says her only talents are talking and passing notes in class. Her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To graduate from beauty school and make my mother proud of me. L«land Ray Wood . . . Very nice lad describes none other than Leland. Some of his many friends are Pat Cord, Marty Hanes and Harold Townsend. Leland came to Lincoln from Tech last September. He has been out for baseball and wrestling. His hobbies are cars and swimming. His biggest thrill was the day he got his first car. He claims his talent is driving. Leland served one semester on student council and also was a hall monitor. Ambition: Live a happy normal life. Nanette Smith . . . This cute little gal has been a credit to Lincoln in both the field of cheerleading and in the field of art. Nan was a cheerleader for two years and received a letter in it. Nan has been a faithful member of Dorian Art Club. Art Staff, and was in the art homeroom for five se- mesters. She also had the honor of being a Des Moines Art Center Scholarship Student and also won honorable mention in the Scholastic Art Award. Nan served on student council two semesters. While en- gaged in her favorite hobbies which include swimming, riding horses, and art. Nan is usually seen with either Julie, Sharon. Carol. Sharon, Caro- lyn. Penny. Peggy, or Mary. She claims her main talent is playing the piano. Ambition : To go to college. IIJb John F. Wright . . . John is an energetic fellow who al- ways has a pleasing smile for every- one he meets. He has faithfully served as hall monitor. John says his hobbies which take up most of his spare hours, include cars, modern jazz and hunting. He is a very tal- ented young fellow whose favorite and familiar talent is playing the Bongo drums. John claims his big- gest thrill is yet to come. He can usually be seen around school with Larry. Rollie, Dan and Mike. Ambition : To be the best architect in the United States. Virgil Ralph Wickert Jr. . . . This athletic fellow played tackle and was a valuable aid to Lincoln ' s football team. Among Virg ' s many friends, are Phil. Gary and Dennis. His hobbies include fishing, hunting and camping. Besides athletics, Vir- gil was (luite a worker when he served on the 12A informal com- mittee. Virgil states that his most embarrassing moment was in West Des Moines.
