Dianna Ellen Holmes . . . A real friendly girl with lorij; red hair and a fiery temper to match, describes Dianna. She can usually be seen around the halls with Pearl. Phyllis. Janet, Paulette, Rosie and Roberta. Dianna ' s favorite teachers are Mr. Wood and Mr. Sanders, while her favorite subjects are journalism and typing. Dianna says that a few of her many hobbies are swimming, skating and bowling. She was a member of Leaders Club where she was a loyal supporter for two semesters. Dianna says her one and only talent seems to be arriving late for class. Ambition: To climb the sunny ladder of success never looking back in the shadows and when I reach the top be able to say, I was a suc- cess. Helen Louise Holton . . . This active little girl has warm brown eyes, a sweet smile and a personality that is liked by all. Helen can usually be seen around the halls with Darlyn and Linda. This girl claims her one hobby is playing the piano. Helen has been very active in the music field as she was in Madrigal homeroom two years and served in senior chorus. Helen has worked in the lost and found department, sold supplies and Mr. Hlackman has been fortunate to have this busy Miss as an ef- ficient assistant. Helen has also been an active member of the of- fice staff. She claims her biggest thrill will be graduation. Ambition: To meet each day with new wisdom and understanding. Sharon Floydene Hull . . . A charming girl, full of pep with a friendly personality that is liked by all, describes Sharon. She says her talent is sticking her foot in her mouth. Being homecoming queen candidate and being a cheerleader for three years has proved to be Sharon ' s biggest thrills. This pretty lass has been captain of the cheer- leaders for two years and has re- ceived three monograms for her abili- ty. She was chosen by the journalism department to be co-sketch editor of the year book. She has faithfully served on the student council and was elected treasurer. The secre- tarial staff has also been fortunate to have Sharon as treasurer and vice-president of the club. A few of her many friends are Carolyn, Mary, Carol, Sharon, Julie and Andy. Ambition : To make all my loved ones i)roud of me and bring as much happiness into other ' s lives as I pos- sibly can. Andrea Elaine Huntsman . . . A sparkling girl with a warm per- sonality describes Andrea. Angle came to Lincoln from Nathan Weeks and can be seen around the halls with Sandy, Karen, Judy, Marie, Sharon and Jeanne. Her hobbies in- clude dancing and skating while she likes to rea l and listen to records. It seems that Angle ' s biggest thrill is yet to come. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Ewers. She went out for tennis and has been a member of Leader ' s Club. Outside of school. Junior Achievement takes up a lot of Andrea ' s time but she can also be seen at all of Lincoln ' s games. Ambition : To lead a happy, reward- ing life. Terry Bob Hyatt ... This good looking lad came to Lin- coln High in eleventh grade from Grand Forks, North Dakota. Terry Hob, as he is known to all of his friends, claims his biggest thrill was diving in the Lakie of the Ozarks. Reing active in sports, he has re- ceived one letter in track and in North Dakota, Terry set an east- ern track record. He was also on the football team. Outside of school, he is a member of the Cru- saders and the Roadrunners. Terry Rob can usually be seen around Lin- coln halls with Germaine, Ronnie and Larry. Ambition: Drive for Standard Oil Co., in the Gulf of Mexico. .lanet Marie Irwin . . . Dark hair, dark eyes and a warm smile and personality describes none other than Janet. Janet has served Lincoln and the journalism class well. Janet was selected editor of the Senior Rail and feature editor of the Greenhorn. She was on student council four semesters, a member of Future Nurses, nurses staff and Westminster Fellowship. It was a big thrill for Janet to become edi- tor of the Senior Rail, but she be- lieves her biggest thrill is yet to come. Janet ' s hobby is lK wling while her talent is playing the piano. She pals around with Diane, Sandy, Dar- lene and Dixie. Janet was also treasurer and vice-moderator of Westminster Fellowship and ac- companist for the junior choir. Ambition : To become a good nurse and help as many people as possible. Larry Lee Jandrey . . . Gary Crees, Ron Berry and Tom McMahon are a few of Larry ' s many pals. This wonderful lad with the pleasing personality has served his school well. He has participated in ba.seball and has been honored with two monograms. Coming to Lincoln from Creston, Iowa, where he let- tered in freshman and sophomore baseball, proved to be quite a thrill for Larry. He has worked on the stage crew committee for two years. Hunting and fishing keep this boy very busy in his spare time. Larry claims that his biggest thrill is in the future. Ambition: To graduate from school and lead a healthy life. Marlene Catherine Joss . . . To graduate and enter nurses train- ing will be Mars biggest thrill. Usually giggling or laughing around the halls, Marlene may be seen with Nancy, Vic, Sandy, Carol, Barb and the rest of the gang. She keeps her- self very busy with ice skating, bowling and swimming but claims her talents are deeply hidden. Mars has been a loyal monitor for three semesters and has ahso been active in other fields such as Latin Club, nurses club, student council and Leaders Club. Outside of school, she received the honor of being an at- tendant in the May Crowning at Christ the King Church. Ambition: To go up the stairs of success without tripping. John McKay Kennelley . . . With his head in the swimming pool or under the hood of his car, brings to mind none other than John. John has been a faithful member of the swimming team, receiving one letter and of the baseball team receiving a letter for it. His hobbies are auto racing and working on cars while he says his talents seem to be few and far between. He is usually seen monitoring in the noon movie and walking around the halls with Jim. Bob, Larry, Harry and Jerry. John is a member of DeMolay and of the Central Iowa Foreign Car Associa- tion. He claims his biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition: To be an automotive en- gineer. Linda Marie Kimberling . . . This friendly girl with the pleasant smile, has been a loyal student of A.L.H.S. Linda can usually be seen with Helen, Darlyne and Sandy L. She has served Lincoln by playing the clarinet in our concert, march- ing and pit bands and she has faith- fully served on secretarial staff for three semesters. She claims her big- gest thrill is yet to come. Linda says her one and only talent is playing the clarinet, while her hobbies in- clude reading and talking. She has also shown her scholastic ability by being on the honor roll. Outside of schm)l Linda is an active member of Junior Achievement. Penelope Ann Hartman . . . Full of pep, always lauKhiriK and more fun than a barrel of monkeys, could describe no one else but Penny. Penny ' or Hartman, as her friends call her, is usually seen with PefiTKy, Carol, Carolyn, Sharon, Julie, Sharon, Susie and the rest of the K UK. Penny has been very ac- tive in dramatics playin f the lead in Seventeenth Summer and she was also in Letters to Lucerne. She has also been on student council. Penny says she has the talent of doinK the wronjf thiriK at the wronj? time and her pet peeve is poor driv- ers. She claims her hobbies are swimming, sleeping, eating, build- ing the 11th grade float and driv- ing. Her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To be a success in what- ever I do and to look back in the past with no regrets. Eileen Annette Hassebrock . . . Secretary of student council, mem- l er of Madrigal. 1.5 grade average throughout high school, Latin Club and senior chorus three years are just a few of the activities in which this ambitious lass has participated. During this whirl of activities, Eileen can be seen with Carole, Dar- lene. Norma and Hob. She has also gone out for golf in which she has lettered once. She was in music homeroom for two years and secre- tary of the Latin Club. Outside of school, Eileen was a member of All- State Chorus, a delegate to Hawk- eye Girls State and moderator of her youth fellowship. Eileen ' s hob- bies are sewing, oil painting, piano and golf. Ambition: To be a good friend and to live a useful life. Jerry H. Hassel Soggy is usually found around the swimming pool with Thomas. Silverthorne, Cleveland, Thompson. Morris and the rest of the tankers. Jerry has been manager of the swimming team for two years and has received one letter in that sport. His hobby is i)hotography while he claims his only talents are being late for home room and spending his money. Jerry ' s favorite subjects are journalism and bookkeeping. His greatest thrill will be gradua- tion. His pet peeve is nagging girls. Ambition: To have many friends and bo liked by all. Kenneth Heck . . . This tall, slender and rather quiet young man has been a real credit to Lincoln. Kenneth says reading is just one of his hobbies while he says his biggest thrill is yet to come. This in- telligent lad was honored by receiving a certificate of merit from the Na- tional Merit Scholarship. Kenneth claims his favorite past time is play- ing the piano. The chess club has been fortunate to have Kenneth as an active member. He has also faithfully served on the class day committee. Dominic Leo is just one of the many friends Kenneth can be seen with. Ambition : To have a liberal educa- tion. Karen Lee Hellstern . . . Karie as she is known to Angie, Sandy, Sharon, Judy, Marie, Jeanne and Sharon, a few of her many friends ; came to Lincoln from Na- than Weeks in tenth grade. Karen has been out for tennis and was selected to be in honor study hall. Outside of school Karen has been a faithful member of Junior Achieve- ment for three years and has served as sales manager for one year. In school Karen belongs to Senior Y- Teen. In her spare time Karen may be found either skating or dancing. Mr. WckhI and Mr. Sanders are her favorite teachers while her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To find my place in life and make my loved ones proud of me. Mary Kay Hess . . . Mary is a very sweet lass with a gentle smile and she has been a loyal student of Lincoln. Mary says she has many hobbies but the two favorites that keep her busy, are cooking and sewing. She states that her talents are well hidden. Patty, Carolyn V., Donna F., Shirley H. and Fied are just a few of the many friends Mary can be seen with. It seems that Mary ' s biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To make my loved ones iifotid ' if me. Richard Merlin Higdon . . . Receiving a letter of commendation for his National Merit Scholarshij» Test, is one of the many outstand- ing honors received by this boy. You will probably find this tall, attractive lad with Danny, Doug, Rollie and Steve to mention only a few of his many friends. Also, you are likely to see this honor student on the tennis court playing his favorite sport, working toward a monogram. Dick has been a member of student coun- cil for two semesters. He says his only hobby is building robots and his talent seems to be playing the French Horn in the band. Ambition: To go to college and get straight A ' s. Carolyn Hill . . . Carolyn is a busy young lady full of pep and loads of fun. This charm- ing girl can usually be seen with Anne, Sharon, Diane, Janet and Dixie. Carolyn claims her hobbies are swimming, canoeing, sewing and camping. Her one talent is having fun. This industrious girl has been honored by serving as co-chairman of the hospitality and usher com- mittee. She was also chairman of the Red Cross Committee and she has served in senior chorus. Carolyn has also found time to be a member of Mermaids, Senior Y-Teen, Junior Red Cross, Future Teachers and Leader ' s Club. Student council has been fortunate to have this girl in their organization for one year, ( ' arolyn has also served on Miss Anderson ' s staff. Ambition: To graduate from Iowa State University and always be hap))y. Sharon Kay Hill . . . Hlonde hair, blue eyes and a smiling personality describes none other than Sharon, known to her closest friends as Sammie. Sharon ' s , hob- bies are i)laying the i)iano, singing, ice skating and writing letters. She has received honors by being chosen to serve at the 12A tea in January and served as consul in Latin Club where she was an active member. This busy girl also held the office of president of nurse ' s staff. Sharon belonged to Y-Teens and Leaders Club. She says one of her talents is harmonizing with Sharon and the rest of her talents are well hidden. Some of Sharon ' s friends include Carolyn, Annie, Diane, Di.xie and Janet. Ambition : To become a nurse and make my loved ones proud of me. Betty Mae Hoffman . . . This sweet little girl came to Lincoln in tenth grade from Cincinnati, Ohio. There she was treasurer of her class and a member of the girl ' s Softball team. Hetty says her hob- bies are swimming, reading and dancing and that her talents are well hidden. The Hible Club is for- tunate to have Hetty as an active member. Sharon, Connie, Tony and Marie are just a few of her friends. Hetty .says her biggest thrill is yet to come. Dennis R. Kirkman . . . Denny, as he is known to all his friends, is an active younj? man with a personality that is tops and a lively sense of humor. This young athlete has participated in basket- ball, football and track ; receivinsr one monogram in each sport. Denny says his only talents are eating and sleeping. This loyal student has served on the student council four semesters, while he also belonged to Y.M.C.A. and A.T.F.O. Graduat- ing from A.L.H.S. will be Denny ' s biggest thrill. Firing on Belliz and Marturello are my only talents, stated Denny. Sonny, Bob L,. Bob B., Gray, Jerry, Bill, Denny, Danny and Dave are a few of the many friends he can be seen with. Ambition : To become successful and have fun doing it. Clarence E. Kissell . . . Clarence is a handsome young man and can usually be seen around school with his many friends in- cluding Bob, Larry, Danny, Jim and Julie. He belongs to the DeMolay and one of his talents is being an excellent golfer. Clarence ' s hobbies are hunting, fishing and most out- door sports. Clancy ' s biggest thrill will be to graduate from college and his favorite teacher is Mr. Ander- son. Ambition: To make a million and retire before he is 45. Hazel Pearl Knolke . . . Hazel came to us from Norwalk High School where she sang in the girls glee club and served on the office staff. She has been one of our hall monitors here at Lincoln. She also plays the piano and has won the National Federation of Mu- sic Award for her accomiilishments in that field. Hazel has been very active in 4-H work and her greatest thrill was winning the Grand Champion and Showmanship Award for Brown Swiss in Warren County. Her hobbies are piano, 4-H, collect- ing salt and pepper shakers and, of course, boys ! Ambition : To be a dairy farmer. ( arul Karen Knudson . . . A pretty little blond with a nice smile for everyone, describes no one but Carol. Being with Jack, swim- ming, talking, bowling and eating are this girl ' s many hobbies. Carol has been a loyal member of A.L.H.S., she has served on office staff, she was a member of Leaders Club and F.T.A. has been fortunate to have this sweet miss as an active mem- ber. Carol was a candidate for Polio Queen of 1960, while she claims being Best talker in study hall, is her only talent. In journalism, Carol was co-glossy editor of the Senior Railsplitter. This busy lass has also served on student council one semester. Linda, Marlene, Sue, Sondra, Betty and Deanna are just a few of the many friends Carol can be seen with. Ambition : To be happy always and never have any regrets. Carolyn Louise Larson . . . Carolyn is a charming young lady that has made many friends and has been a credit to Lincoln. This active girl was on homemaking staff where she faithfully served as president and treasurer. She has received many honors ; she won fifth place in a national table setting contest and this proved to be her biggest thrill. Out- side of school Carolyn has been an active member of Rainbow Girls. A few of her many hobbies are sewing, cooking and playing the organ. Caro- lyn claims her only talent is play- ing the organ. Some of the many friends Carolyn can be seen with in- clude Joyce, Vicky, Marie and Sue. Ambition : To go to Simpson and be- come a teacher in home economics ; then travel the world with Bonnie. 1 f m 1 Iv John James Latimer . . . This friendly, nice looking boy has been a real credit to Lincoln. Jim ' s biggest thrill was making all-state chorus during his senior year. This busy lad was also named February boy of the month by the Kiwanis ( ' lub and has been a member of the DeMolay. Jim. a great athlete, has been out for basketball and tennis and he had the honor of receiving one monogram from each sport. Jim ' s hobby seems to be singing, but he also includes eating and sleeping. His talents are sports and music. The Madrigal homeroom has been fortu- nate to have Jim as a member for two years. He has been on student council for three semesters and held the office of chief justice. A few of his many friends are Terry, Denny and Ralph. Ambition: To major in music and go into it professionally. Everett Windel Lawrence . . . A tall fellow with a friendly smile an l a cheerful Hi for everyone, describes Everett. Bob, Martin and Doug Graham are just a few of the many friends this lad can be seen with. This young man probably holds the title of being the tallest boy at Lincoln as he stands 6 foot 7 inches. Everett has many hobbies, but his favorites which take up most of his time are guns and hunting. He is also very talented in the field of music. Everett says his biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition: To own and operate a wildlife game reserve. Sandra Maxine Leeper . . . Sandy is an attractive little gal with a striking personality. Dancing, eating, bowling and going to parties are a few of this gal ' s many hobbies. She can be seen around the halls with Karen, Joan, Judi and Sharon. Sandy has been a loyal student of Lincoln by being a faithful member of Leaclers Club, she has been on the home economic ' s staff and Sandy has served on the student council for two years. This busy girl has also been on the honor roll in her senior year. Sandy says her one and only talent seems to be getting into trouble constantly. Sandy claims her biggest thrills were getting her con- tact lenses and graduation from Lin- coln. Ambition : To profit from my past mistakes and look toward the future with an open mind and a happy heart. Dominick John Leo . . . Sports have kept this energetic boy busy. The wrestling, track and cross country teams have found him to be iuite an asset. Dominick has also received two Scholastic Gold Keys for his art work. He has played in the band and the i)it band and served on student council for one semester. Outside of school he has been active in Junior Achievement. Dominick is an advanced achiever and has re- ceived junior executive awards and was named sales manager of the year for 1958 and 1959. This lad ' s hobbies are photography, woodwork- ing and attending auctions, while his talent is being a Jack of All Trades. Dominick can be seen with Kenneth Heck and the rest of the gang. Ambition: To get a well rounded edu- cation and be successful. Linda Marie Lewis . . . A brunette with big brown eyes and a radiant smile could describe no one but Linda. Dave, Sondra, Germaine, Betty, Linda, Carol, Deanna and Sue are just a few of the many friends Linda can be seen with. She claims her hobbies are swimming, bowling, tennis and horseback riding. People who think they are better than .some one else seems to be Linda ' s pet peeve. The journalism department has been fortunate to have this lass serve as advertising manager of the newspaper. Linda revealed that most of her talent lies in jumj)ing on the trampoline and sacking groceries. Future Nurses Club has had this girl as an active member for two years. Her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition: To live a worthwhile life and have many friends. 24 —
