Diana Kae (iraves . . . A smilinjf face and sweet i)ersonality describes Diana. Makinsr the honor roll proved to he very thrillinp: for this studious little Kirl. Studyini? doesn ' t take up all of her time, she takes an active interest in French Club and Future Teachers. Outside of school she displays her sin inK ability in the church choir. She also enjoys ice skatinpr, roller skating, bowlins: and reading the classics. Norma, Carole, Linda, Darlene and Eilene rate high on her list of frienils. Wherever you see them you ' ll be sure to find Diana. Ambition: To be as well loved ns ;i teacher as Miss Scanlan. Albert Henry Graziano . Al can best be described as tall, dark and handsome. This young man has participated in football and track. He has many hobbies but his favorites ai «e swimming, waterskiing and ice skating. Service homeroom 117 has been fortunate to have this lad as an active member for three semesters. Al says his talents are many. This busy lad has served on student council for tv o semesters. Mr. Stone rates high on his list of favorite teachers, while chemistry is his favorite subject. Angelo Hellizzi. Roger Stover, Denny Kirkman and Richard Croll are a few of his clos- est friends. Ambition: To graduate from college. Joan Kaye (ireen . . . Working on the Kailsplitter as fea- ture columnist has taken up much of this active girl ' s time. She has been involved in many activities at Lincoln including Y-Teens and co- columnist on the (Greenhorn staff. She is also a member of Rainbow and enjoys bowling and swimming. Joan can be seen with Hop, Jackie. Dick. Judy, Pam and Barb. She claims her pet i)eeve is deadlines, and her favorite slave driver is Mr. Sanders. Joan says her talents are deeply hidden. My biggest thrill is yet to come, states Joan. Ambition: To have happiness always, love eternal, high aims and a sincere heart. Pearl Marie (ireen . . . Talking in study hall seems to be Pearl ' s greatest talent. You -will us- ually see this little blonde wherever you .see Dianne, Phil, Janet, Polly, Rosie, Hert and Sharon. Swimming, skating and bowling are her favor- ite hobbies and she claims her big- gest thrill is yet to come. She names Miss Kaly and Mr. Sanders as her favorite teachers and journalism as her favorite subject. Ambition: To aim high, reach far un l make my parents proud of me. Daniel D. Grindle . . . Danny as he is known to almost everyone, is quite a sports fan. He has participated in both swimming and baseball. When Danny isn ' t busy with classwork, he enjoys fishing and hunting, a few of his many hob- bies. Danny says his only talent is ))laying the clarinet which has proved to be quite an asset to the band. He is also an active and faithful member of DeMolay. Doug, Richard. Dennis and Rollie are just a few of his many friends. Ambition: To have my own flying service. Paul Karl Groth . . . A rather shy and cjuiet fellow de- scribes Paul. Although he has been kept very busy with school work, he has found some extra time to spend skating and swimming, his two favorite hobbies. He can usually be seen around the halls before and after school with Dominic and Dick, to mention only two of his many friends. Paul has served his school well by being in boys glee club. His talents seem to be playing the violin and singing. Outside of school Paul is active in the church league. Ambition: To live a good secure and happy life. Arthur Guile. Jr. . . . An (iutstanding athlete with a warm personality describes Arthur, better known to all his friends as Art. Helping to win the homecoming game proved to be Art ' s biggest thrill. He was chosen for the all city second team and honorable mention on the all-state squad. Art has re- ceived two letters in track and two letters in football and was chosen captain of the Lincoln 1959 foot- ball squad. Art claims that his tal- ents are hidden, but his hobbies are swimming, sports of all kinds and working on cars. Art can be seen with Bill B., Ron G., L. T., and the rest of the gang. Ambition : To graduate from high school and take a long trip with Bill Burress. Harold Kent Haines . . . Rattlesnake can be seen around the halls of Lincoln with L. T., Dick, Doug and Ron. He has been out for football, wrestling and tennis. Since Harold came to Lincoln from Army Post, he has been a monitor and he served on junior and senior council for two semesters. Outside of school, Harold belongs to DeMolay. He has many hobbies which include, swim- ming, bowling, dancing and sliding. He says his only talent is playing his guitar at parties. Pizza rates high on his list of good foods. Har- old ' s biggest thrill was getting his 1955 Ford convertible. Ambition : To succeed in whatever I do. Karen Darlene Hammer ... Karen claims her biggest thrill will be visiting Carolyn in Los Angeles. Her talent seems to be drawing, for which she has been honored with a gold achievement key as a winner in the 1959 Scholastic Art Awards program. Karen has taken an active part in Dorian Art Club and Crafts Club. She has also served the home- making department well by serving on the staff. Karen has many hob- bies including dancing, skating and bowling. She can usually be seen around the halls with Lil, Bob, Janis, Ruby, Sharon. Maggie, Teresa, Judy and Kay. Ambition: To graduate from art school and make certain people very happy. Sharon Kay Harper . . . Always friendly and usually busy talking are words to describe Shar- on. She is a former member of Y- Teen ' s. Some of her many hobbies include bowling, dancing and par- ties. Sharon says Mr. Woods is tops on her list of teachers, while law is her favorite subject. When you hear No lie or I can ' t stand it, you can be sure Sharon is around. She says her talents are too nu- merous to mention. Sharon claims that although many things have happened to her, her biggest thrill is yet to come. Sharon can usually be found with Roberta, Carole, Di- ane, Janice, Donna, Mary and Sandy. Dougrlan (irant Fryman . . . This tall slender youriK man with a warm, friendly personality has been a real credit to his school. The stu- dent council has been fortunate to have Dour serve for one semester. Danny, Jim, Dennis, Georpre and Bob are just a few of the many friends this boy can be seen with. Douk was out for basketball for one year and he says swimming and eatinjf are his only hobbies. He says his one and only talent is eating- My biRf est thrill is yet to come stated Dour. Ambition: To s:o to Iowa State Uni- versity and be a success. Toni Fucaloro . . . This fun loving ffirl can usually be seen around the halls of Lincoln and outside of school with Cookie Felice and Connie Rivera. Toni claims that her one and only talent is talking. She has been a faithful member of the Catholic Youth Or anization for several years. Howling: and eatinK seem to rate high on this attractive firirl ' s list of hobbies while Toni claims that her biprfirest thrill is yet to come. Toni came to us in 9th Krade from Nathan Weeks. Ambition: To be a beautician and make my parents proud of me. Ronald Dennis Carlock . . . Indian relics and jfeolofiry are two hobbies that take up most of Ron ' s spare time. This industrious boy has served Lincoln by participating in football and wrestlinj?, receiving one letter in football. Ron can be heard sayintf, That ain ' t bad as he walks around the halls with Harold, L.T., Art, Hill and Ron. He claims his pet peeve is naprprinp: prirls. Ron states that his biKtrest thrill is yet to come and his talents are too many to men- tion. Ambition : To be happv and success- ful. Darlyne Lois (ierst . . . Darlyne has appeared in three school plays, Seventeenth Summer, Be- hind This Mask. and the spring 1960 play. This nice girl can usually be seen with Paul, Helen and Linda just a few of her many friends. Darlyne claims she has too many talents to mention, while swimming is just one of this girl ' s many hob- bies. This busy gal belongs to Lead- ers Club and she has faithfully served on gym staff. Outside of school, Darlyne is an active member of Junior Achievement. She says that her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To make my loved ones proud of me. Russell Gibbel . . . This nice, rather quiet young man always has a friendly hello for everyone he meets. Russell has par- ticipated in baseball but it seems this lad ' s hobbies are cars, art and sleeping, while he admits he has a slight talent in the field of art. Mr. Hoffman tops the list of teachers for Russell while art proves to be his favorite subject. My biggest thrill is yet to come, stated Ru.ssell. Larry Cheers, Pete Carra and Ron- nie Moyle are just a few of the many friends this nice boy can be seen with. Ambition : To become rich and go to some state that has a warm climate year around. (iary Robert Gillman . . . A rather shy and quiet boy with a pleasant personality describes Gary. Richard, Moose, Gary, Danny and Pete aie just a few of the many friends claimed by Gary. He says his biggest thrill is yet to come, while he states that he has many hobbies but the ones he enjoys the most are hunting, fishing and play- ing p(H)l. Gary has many talents, but his favorite is playing the saxo- phone. Ambition: Get rich quick and re- tire at the age of twenty-five. Robert Eugene Glessner . . . Wherever this young man appears, he brightens the atmosphere with his beaming smile. With his smile and friendly personality. Gene has been able to w i n many friends among them we find Ronnie M.. Pete C, Bob M., Ronnie W. and the rest of the gang. Sports have fouiid (lene very active, especially in base- ball and basketball. He has received one letter in baseball. He has also served as a monitor and has been a gym leader for two semesters. He says his biggest thrill is yet to come and his hobbies are fishing, playing checkers and collecting knives. Ambition: To go to Florida after graduation. Linda Lou Goodlaxson . . . Wherever you see Sharon, Betty and Kay you ' ll find Linda. This active lass has been in two of Lincoln ' s plays, Seventeenth Summer and Letters to Lucerne. She has broad- cast on KDPS, the public school ra- dio station, for two years. Linda has been a faithful member of Future Nurses Club, Latin Club and Y.F.C. She is also a member of nurses staff. Going to Washington D. C. last win- ter was her biggest thrill. Among her many hobbies, Linda rates bowl- ing an l swimming as her favorites. Ambition: To be a very good nurse and make all my loved ones prourl of me. Douglas Edward (iraham . . . Tall, with light brown hair, plus a pleasing personality describes Doug. He has .served on student council for four semesters and is a familiar person around the drama i- )om and has proven to be very help- ful. Acting isn ' t the only taJent Doug possesses as he also enjoys playing the Uke. When Doug isn ' t busy with his hobbies of collecting coins, playing tennis or basketball, you may find him with Suntho. Harold. Jim and Terry. Doug has lettered twice in tennis and was twice elected captain of the tennis team. Some of the many honors he has received are belonging to All-City Student Council, representative to Kiwanis, precepter and treasurer of DeMolay, plus winning Snyder Speech Con- test in Evanston, Illinois. Ambition: To become a veterinarian. Deanna Marie Graves . . . Deanna is an attractive little blond with a sparkling personality that makes her a ball to be with. Deanna has been a majorette for A.L.H.S. three years and she belonged to the Blue Angel ' s Majorette Club where she received a medal for fii st place in the state. Deanna has received one letter in tennis and has served on gym staff six semesters. A few of her many friends are Bob, Sue, Son lra, Linda and the rest of the gang. The journalism department was fortunate to have Deanna as the make-ui) editor of the Senior Railsplitter. Danny has served on student council two semesters and has been a member of Mermaids and F ' .T.A. Deanna claims her biggest thrill was receiving her ring from Bob. Ambition: To be a successful hair stylist and make my parents and Bob proud of me.

Penelope Ann Hartman . . . Full of pep, always lauKhiriK and more fun than a barrel of monkeys, could describe no one else but Penny. Penny ' or Hartman, as her friends call her, is usually seen with PefiTKy, Carol, Carolyn, Sharon, Julie, Sharon, Susie and the rest of the K UK. Penny has been very ac- tive in dramatics playin f the lead in Seventeenth Summer and she was also in Letters to Lucerne. She has also been on student council. Penny says she has the talent of doinK the wronjf thiriK at the wronj? time and her pet peeve is poor driv- ers. She claims her hobbies are swimming, sleeping, eating, build- ing the 11th grade float and driv- ing. Her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To be a success in what- ever I do and to look back in the past with no regrets. Eileen Annette Hassebrock . . . Secretary of student council, mem- l er of Madrigal. 1.5 grade average throughout high school, Latin Club and senior chorus three years are just a few of the activities in which this ambitious lass has participated. During this whirl of activities, Eileen can be seen with Carole, Dar- lene. Norma and Hob. She has also gone out for golf in which she has lettered once. She was in music homeroom for two years and secre- tary of the Latin Club. Outside of school, Eileen was a member of All- State Chorus, a delegate to Hawk- eye Girls State and moderator of her youth fellowship. Eileen ' s hob- bies are sewing, oil painting, piano and golf. Ambition: To be a good friend and to live a useful life. Jerry H. Hassel Soggy is usually found around the swimming pool with Thomas. Silverthorne, Cleveland, Thompson. Morris and the rest of the tankers. Jerry has been manager of the swimming team for two years and has received one letter in that sport. His hobby is i)hotography while he claims his only talents are being late for home room and spending his money. Jerry ' s favorite subjects are journalism and bookkeeping. His greatest thrill will be gradua- tion. His pet peeve is nagging girls. Ambition: To have many friends and bo liked by all. Kenneth Heck . . . This tall, slender and rather quiet young man has been a real credit to Lincoln. Kenneth says reading is just one of his hobbies while he says his biggest thrill is yet to come. This in- telligent lad was honored by receiving a certificate of merit from the Na- tional Merit Scholarship. Kenneth claims his favorite past time is play- ing the piano. The chess club has been fortunate to have Kenneth as an active member. He has also faithfully served on the class day committee. Dominic Leo is just one of the many friends Kenneth can be seen with. Ambition : To have a liberal educa- tion. Karen Lee Hellstern . . . Karie as she is known to Angie, Sandy, Sharon, Judy, Marie, Jeanne and Sharon, a few of her many friends ; came to Lincoln from Na- than Weeks in tenth grade. Karen has been out for tennis and was selected to be in honor study hall. Outside of school Karen has been a faithful member of Junior Achieve- ment for three years and has served as sales manager for one year. In school Karen belongs to Senior Y- Teen. In her spare time Karen may be found either skating or dancing. Mr. WckhI and Mr. Sanders are her favorite teachers while her biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To find my place in life and make my loved ones proud of me. Mary Kay Hess . . . Mary is a very sweet lass with a gentle smile and she has been a loyal student of Lincoln. Mary says she has many hobbies but the two favorites that keep her busy, are cooking and sewing. She states that her talents are well hidden. Patty, Carolyn V., Donna F., Shirley H. and Fied are just a few of the many friends Mary can be seen with. It seems that Mary ' s biggest thrill is yet to come. Ambition : To make my loved ones iifotid ' if me. Richard Merlin Higdon . . . Receiving a letter of commendation for his National Merit Scholarshij» Test, is one of the many outstand- ing honors received by this boy. You will probably find this tall, attractive lad with Danny, Doug, Rollie and Steve to mention only a few of his many friends. Also, you are likely to see this honor student on the tennis court playing his favorite sport, working toward a monogram. Dick has been a member of student coun- cil for two semesters. He says his only hobby is building robots and his talent seems to be playing the French Horn in the band. Ambition: To go to college and get straight A ' s. Carolyn Hill . . . Carolyn is a busy young lady full of pep and loads of fun. This charm- ing girl can usually be seen with Anne, Sharon, Diane, Janet and Dixie. Carolyn claims her hobbies are swimming, canoeing, sewing and camping. Her one talent is having fun. This industrious girl has been honored by serving as co-chairman of the hospitality and usher com- mittee. She was also chairman of the Red Cross Committee and she has served in senior chorus. Carolyn has also found time to be a member of Mermaids, Senior Y-Teen, Junior Red Cross, Future Teachers and Leader ' s Club. Student council has been fortunate to have this girl in their organization for one year, ( ' arolyn has also served on Miss Anderson ' s staff. Ambition: To graduate from Iowa State University and always be hap))y. Sharon Kay Hill . . . Hlonde hair, blue eyes and a smiling personality describes none other than Sharon, known to her closest friends as Sammie. Sharon ' s , hob- bies are i)laying the i)iano, singing, ice skating and writing letters. She has received honors by being chosen to serve at the 12A tea in January and served as consul in Latin Club where she was an active member. This busy girl also held the office of president of nurse ' s staff. Sharon belonged to Y-Teens and Leaders Club. She says one of her talents is harmonizing with Sharon and the rest of her talents are well hidden. Some of Sharon ' s friends include Carolyn, Annie, Diane, Di.xie and Janet. Ambition : To become a nurse and make my loved ones proud of me. Betty Mae Hoffman . . . This sweet little girl came to Lincoln in tenth grade from Cincinnati, Ohio. There she was treasurer of her class and a member of the girl ' s Softball team. Hetty says her hob- bies are swimming, reading and dancing and that her talents are well hidden. The Hible Club is for- tunate to have Hetty as an active member. Sharon, Connie, Tony and Marie are just a few of her friends. Hetty .says her biggest thrill is yet to come.
