Tech 32 32 Roosevelt 37 38 Valley 15 36 Osceola 37 32 Knoxville 30 25 Indianola 21 39 Albia 31 35 37 38 The haslcethall team ended its season with a record of five victories against ten defeats. The team placed last in the city series with one victory and seven defeats. They placed fifth in the 'south central conference with four victories and five losses. The team was captainecl hy second all- city guard Tom Hull who played hrilliant hall this season, Tom, Ralph Hayner, and Don Conn received their second monogram for haslcethall, while Boh Hull, Diclc Kummerfeldt, Ray Martin, George Croft, George Hall, Howard lVloon, and Franlc Branco received their first. Track The team opened the traclc season hy talcing fourth place in the city indoor meet with 22 points. It placed ninth the following weelc in the Valley relays he- hind the point-producing Boh Horton. The improved team captured third place in the Vvinterset relays, one and one-half points hehind the Ames team. ln the last meet to date, Lincoln toolc second place in the south central con- ference meet hehind the powerful Knox- ville team. The power of the team this year has heen vested in the 220 pound frame of Boh Horton. He has not failed to place in a meet so far this year in his specialty, the shot put. He has placed in several meets in the discus throw also. He placed second in the shot put in the city indoor and Valley relays. Stepping up a notch in the Vvinterset relays, he captured first in the shot put and second in the discus. He continued his record hrealcing throws in the South Central conference meet talcing first in hoth discus and shot put. He also placed third in the Dralce relays. Boh hrolce the school record with his toss of 47 feet 55A inches in the Dralre relays, the former record heing held hy Bill Benslcin who tossed the 12 Dound shot 47 feet 4V2 inches. Boh hrolce his own record in the conference meet hy one foot and one inch, when he threw the shot put 48 feet 65h inches. Other traclcsters deserving credit for the season are: Boh Ahilcl in the mile rung Ted Harper, who has a good chance to reach the state finals, in the high jump: Dean Trent in the hurdlesg Ben- slcin in the 100 and 200 yard dashes. To lVlr. Lorin Graaff, new traclc coach, go plaudits for his worlc in developing this stellar traclc team which has repre- sented Lincoln so splendidly. Swimming The swimming season was climaxed this year when tlaclc Burgess captured the city championship in the haclcstrolce with the time of one minute eleven seconds. .lerry Beardmore toolc third place in fancy diving, and Boh Nielsen toolc sec- ond in the hreaststrolce during the first semester meet. Boh Gustafson captained the team which produced twelve monogram win- ners. The hoys receiving school letters were: Bolo Gustafson, .laclc Burgess, Ralph Keesee, .laclc Halstead, Russell Myers, Don Burgess, Richard J. Walker, Keith James, Blair Thompson, Jerry Bearlilmore, Boh Fridlington, and Lloyd Coo . Golf The golf team has had a very successful year so far losing only its opening match to Valley. Valley defeated them on their home course 7V2 to 4V2. Gary Moon was the Lincoln medalist with an 80. The golfers found the range in the next meet, defeating North 12-0 on the Grand- view course. Don Conn and Howard lVloon were medalists with an 84 each. They also defeated East on the Grand- view course, 7-5 with Gary Nloonys 80 the top score, The Ahe pros tied Roosevelt on the Waveland course 6-6. Gary Moon was again medalist with an 82. They toolc the Dralce relays invitational hy storm, defeating Ames, Oslcaloosa, and Ottumwa. Their total of 525 strolces was 29 under the 554 posted hy Ottumwa ancl Qslcaloosa in tieing for second. Ames tool: last with a total of 559. ln their last meet to date, our aces of the fairways downed a field of nine to win the Cedar Rapids invitational hy I5 strolces. The Ahes posted another 525 to capture first place with Roosevelt of Des Moines and lowa City tied for third with 540. Howard Moon tiecl for the medalist honors in the tournament with a 75, the same score' which earned him medalist honors in the Dralce relays invitational meet. The Lincoln colors are carried a ain this year hy a girls' golf team. ln Sxeir only meet to date, they defeated the East girls 6-O on the Grandview course. ln playing nine holes .loyann Botlcin and Pat Sparlcs tied for medalist honors with a 65 each.

A mystery-farce in three acts, it had the audience recoiting with horror one moment, and douhling over with laughter the next. Niuch credit goes to cast memhers for the fine interpretation of their individual roles, an difh- cuit, hut each played with dexterity seldom achieved in high school productions. Honors also go to Niiss Annamae Heaps whose guiding direction piloted the play to its successful two night stand. The cast of twelve included only two persons who have previously heen in a Lincoln high play, George Croft and Bohhie Darnes. Completing the castg Shirley Reeves, Peggy Wehster, Sally Folsom, Gerene Vvitter, Lucia Macri, Richard Atkinson, Jacy Macy, Jack Wright, Richard Christenson and John Manii.
