Three OT These have gained play-OTT berThs in The ciTy championships. in our Treshman year I954-I955 we saw The baskeTball Team, under mr. b. kirsner's TuTelage, bring home TirsT place in brooklyn division wiTh a Tine I4-4 record. led by capTains sTockTedder, villamina and lassman, The l955-l956 ediTion wound up iTs season wiTh a I3-6 mark and a Third place in iTs divisions. in our junior year I956-T957 a new coach, mr. william maccaTTrey and capTain mark reiner led The hoopsTers To a second place Tinish. reiner's back- courT maTe was danny liebowiTz. chuck TeinsTein, lou desillas and anTon muehl- bauer operaTed up TronT. in The play-oTTs an inspired porT richmond upseT The Tavored lincoln Tive 5l-50. as seniors we saw our cagers run up a Thrilling I3-7 record. in The backcourT, along wiTh marTy schulTz, was capTain and all-ciTy sTar, anTon muehlbauer. aT The Torwards were dave sinclair and ieTT kirsch. dav and ieTT coupled wiTh sTu singer aT cenTer provided lincoln wiTh a very Tormidable Torward wall. milT klein, anoTher senior, was singer's replacemenT and probably would have sTarTed on a weaker Team. lincoln sTarTed The season wiTh a win over erasmus, 70-68. The Team Then proceeded To rip Through laTayeTTe, TorT hamilTon, new uTrechT, and madison, losing only To manual. some Tough breaks in The Tinal porTion oT The season pushed lincoln down inTo a Three-way Tie Tor second. lincoln's I2 poinT vicTory over uTrechT puT Them in madison square garden: They were going againsT clinTon. iT was a rough game Tor The cagers who couldn'T come up wiTh Tor. clinTon won, 65-54. This was a good year Tor The baske- Teers. coach mccaTTrey made Them inTo a uniTed Team, a Team To which every game was a vicTory, win or lose. any oT The scoring They were known baske+balI Team
