To create, maintain, and extend throughout the school and the community high standards of Christian character is the motto of the Hi-Y, one of A. L.'s most prominent service groups. Each year the Hi-Y helps fill and deliver the Goodfellow Christmas baskets. During Service the spring, the Hi-Y co-sponsors the Easter program and also sends represent- atives to the Hi-Y district conference. While the boys devote much time to service projects, they find time to par- ticipate in the Southwest Iowa Hi-Y Bas- ketball Tournament. Sponsor: Mr. H. To stimulate interest in the Junior Red Cross and to raise funds, the council promotes a year- ly membership drive and also sponsors the traditional Sock-Hop. Among the many other projects of the council are those of filling Christmas boxes for the underprivileged people abroad and help- ing the less fortunate families in our own locality at Christmas. Only boys receiving a major letter in a maior sport belong to the Lettermen's Club.
