Afer several attempts at bringing crewmembers onboard via liberty boats failed, the decision was made to try a more drastic approach at a solution. A jewel set in the midst of some of the most spectacular beauty in the world, 'fthe Garden City iS perfect for visiting, with gardens that bloom year round, a lovely inner harbour, a scenic marine drive and, of course, the opportunity to have high tea in the world-famous Empress Hotel. Victoria holds a special place in ABE,S heart, and the city's hospital- ity proved that our Sailors are just as special. In addition to the many invitations of hospitality offered to sailors by community members, three specific events sponsored for the officers and crew included a formal dinner at the Empress Hotel, a happy hour for chief petty officers and officers at th U ' ' e nion Club, and a reception for first-class petty officers and above at theStrathcona Hotel.
