It Can t Be That Bad A Gabby Class Big Changes. For the third consecutive year, YYalter Kra- kowiecki, was elected class President with Frank Spezzano, Vice-President, and Mary Du- gan and Juanita Pickett, Secretary and Treas- urer, respectively. In October we were already starting to feel like Seniors, because we had ordered our class rings. M'hen they arrived in December, we dis- played them proudly. And then came the chance to show the whole school our talents. After losing in the Magazine Campaign, it was our chance to put on a talent show. We found out we had un- discovered future stars of stage, screen and tele- vision. About this time, our junior Prom Commit- tees were busy decorating the gym for the big event which we named Stardust Serenadef, The Prom took place on May 25, 1956. The gym had been converted into a beautiful pent- house with a skyline, stars, and other displays. YVe danced to the music of Buddy Dee, and it was truly a night we shall always remember. The last big event in our Junior year was the election of Student Council Officers. The final results were: XValter Smith, President, M'illiam Berneking, Vice-President, and Rober- ta Tuttle, Secretary-Treasurer. Our big year finally came and we all looked to the future for wonderful things. One of these was the taking of Senior pictures and the wait- ing 'til the finished product came back. Class officers were elected with Frank Spezzano, President, Milliam Berneking, Vice- Presidentg and Carol Ann Cuyer and Richard Enright, Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Thanksgiving Day came with cold and .Lv Q g ., A Little Bit of Senior Advice. HI TORY windy weather, but our boys pulled through to win over Park, l-1-6. Among our memorable events were those of our last half year. The Senior Play, Our Townv, was a big success thanks to the hard work of both Mr. Coeyman and the entire Sen- ior Class. Xext, our trip up the Hudson. The first stop was the dock of the Hudson River Day Line. Finally we arrived at Bear Mountain. Every- one rushed off the boat to spend a beautiful day, swimming, riding, and playing baseball. Late that evening, a tired but happy group made its way back to Roselle. After the fun of the trip, we turned to more serious thoughts. On Sunday night the clergy of Roselle expressed to us final guiding words of wisdom at our Baccalaureate service. The following Wednesday evening was the biggest social event of the year, Class Night. Thursday, june 13, 1957, commencement arrived. The auditorium was filled to capacity with proud parents and friends. The fanfare started and the Seniors slowly proceeded down the center aisle to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance.', The chosen speakers gave their views on certain topics of particular interest to Seniors. The Seniors rose, and one by one, each re- ceived his diploma from a member of the Board of Education. After singing i'Auld Lang Syneu and the Alma Materf' the new gradu- ates participated in the recessional. What will come in the future we cannot tell, but we hope it will be as happy as the past six years have been. We leave to pursue our fate in this world. derful Night. The First Shouelful X J' Will We Make It? just Starting Out. -in -1:11 In September, 1951, we made our grand entrance into Abraham Clark High School. How different and strange it seemed from our elementary school. No longer did our teachers take us from one class to another. YVe were on our own to hunt for our rooms. Hall monitors were yelling at us for going up Downy stair- ways and going down 'iUp', stairways. How were we to get used to this new system? Form- erly oldest in one school, we were now the youngest in another school and we didnit ex- actly like it. But as with all other things, we got used to it and finished the rest of the year quite happily. Our class officers were: Presi- dent, Ioseph Roman, Vice-President, Louis Crobg Secretary, Carol Ann Cuyer, and Treas- urer, XValter Smith. In September, 1952, we returned to school, the majority of us feeling quite proud, even a little conccited that we had managed to sur- vive the trials and tribulations of our first year in high school, and came out all the wiser, all of this was in the first year of our teens. Judith Springstead was our Class President this year and Louis Crob, our Vice-President, and Earl Shann and XValter Smith, Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. The most anticipated function of our first year as upper classmenf, fto one class anywayj was a reasonable facsimile of a social gather- ing called April Showersf' The great event took place in the big gym, from 3:30 to 5:30 P. M., the time was the cause of a slight dis- pute. Even though the rebellion was unsuc- cessful, those who attended had a wonderful time. The climax of the year was the presentation of the Good Citizenship Awards to Carol Ann Coming Into the Stretch. Surprise! Cuyer, Patricia Dalessandris, XValter Krakow- iecki, Jean Erdody, Kenneth Hoffman and Ann Ienkyns. XVe left school thrilled with the anticipa- tion of returning as Freshmen the following fall. After a long summer we made our way back to school. NVe were cheered with the feel- ing that we were finally a real part of the high school, after having made our career de- cisions. NVe were joined by a large group of students from St. josephis School. XVhen we settled down from the first few weeks of school, we started plans for a dance called, The Freshman Frolicf, The dance did not succeed because of lack of interest, but on tl1e whole, the year was filled with happiness and success. Our officers were: President, IVal- ter Krakowieckig Vice-President, Carol Roscoe, Secretary, Mary Dugan, and Treasurer, XValter Smith. Sophomore . . . Boy that sounded far away at one time, but before we knew it, there we were, 10th graders. That was the year of our first evening dance, Spring Fever, which turned out to be very nice. This was also the year that we beat Park 13 to 12 in football. Little did we know that we would win again two years later when we would be seniors, and the boys from our own class would be the big stars. Yes, our Sophomore year was quite a year, but june rolled around pretty fast, and we were soon looking forward to being Juniors. In September we came back to school as Juniors, thinking of the one year we had to go. About this time the boys were showing their abilities in football, basketball, and baseball.
