Principal: Norman W. Schmid It is a special honor to be a graduate of Abington Senior High School in its centennial year. The class of 1988 now joins that throng of Abingtonians who impress their mark upon the community. the nation, and the world. Founded in 1888, Abington High School has touched many lives over the past one hundred years. Our graduates have succeeded in many endeavors in all of our states and in many of the nations of the world. Whether they be historians, mathematicians, shopkeepers. housewives, physicists, or mechanics, they all have one common bond: an origin in one of the best high schools in the nation. The faculty of Abington High School has tried hard to provide you with the keys to success. We hope that these will be used wisely and well. While we trust that we have touched you in a positive way, know that you have also touched us and that you will be remembered for your many accomplishments and contributions. It is fitting that our Centennial Class” of 1988 has set a new record of excellence by counting eighteen merit scholars in its ranks. It is a hallmark that will always be a source of pride for all of us. As you go your own separate ways after the commencement, we wish you the best in life and Godspeed in your chosen endeavors.  The ground on which the original Abing-ton High School is built was once Boucher’s farm and was donated by Reverend C. Eckard, then pastor of the Abington Presbyterian Church. In the year 1901, there were only twenty-five students and two teachers at Abington High School. By the year 1918 the student body numbered 140 and the faculty had increased to ten.
