Abington’s Fall sports season was our most successful in the history of the school. In the 51 varsity contests played, the Ghosts won 41. lost 6 and tied 4 for a remarkable win percentage of .846 The Hockey team had a record of 8-1-3 and finished second in the Suburban League behind Champion Springfield. The Football team ended with a record of 7-4 and fourth place in the league. Abmgton played its 500th game during the 1973 season. (Our record is 309-165-33) The Soccer team ended the year with a 16-1-1 record, the most wins ever for a season. The Ghosts won the Suburban One Championship for the third time in 4 years. In the District playoffs Abmgton defeated Neshaminy and West Chester but lost in the District Final to second place Suburban One League team Upper Moreland. The Cross Country team was 10-0. undefeated in dual meets and winners of Suburban One Dual Meet Championship. Suburban One League Meet Championship. The District 1 Championship and came in second in the PIAA State Meet, the highest position ever for an eastern-PA team. Abmgton looks forward to the winter Sports season. The defending Suburban One Champion Basketball team hopes to repeat and go on to win the District title. The Wrestling team after a disappointing 1973 season hopes to make a strong comeback under new coach Bill Manogg. The Boys Swim Team, always a contender for the championship, hopes to continue its winning ways. Rifle. Boys Bowling, and Gymnastics all hope to be winners. The Girls Sports of Basketball. Bowling, and Swimming have a good chance to contend for the championship in their respective fields.
