In a democracy such as ours, it is necessary for each citizen to he as well informed as possible. Traditionally, Abington's social studies depart- ment has trained young voters and citizens so that they can exercise their prerogative to best advantage. In his hrst high school year, the student has his choice ot world history-which will become a requirement next year-or economics. In the jun- ior year, American history is a requirement. The senior problems of democracy classes have many guest speakers during the course of the year. In addition .Xmericans for the Competitive Enter- prise System arrange held trips to various manu- lacturing plants, hotels and other places of busi- ness, so that the students can get a preview of the business world.
