this publication is the Oracle Yearbook. And what is oracle but another name for a prophet ? - someone or something which is concerned with foretelling the happenings and trends of the future - what is going to happen. In short. we wonder how Abington fare in the many years to High School will come - whether or not it can still progress toward greater things and continue an unin- terrupted line of accomplishments. Yvith the facts of today at our disposal, we will play the role of fortune-teller trying to discern some indication of Abington's future . . . September had scarcely begun when the school portals opened in welcome, not only to a few hundred more assorted students, but also to a new principal, assistant-principal, and eleven additional faculty members. They came from teaching jobs as far removed as Arizona. Rapidly blending in with the l200-strong student body was Ute Preidt, an exchange student from Berlin, Germany. But still, one of the prime prospects of the horizon has eluded us. for we have neglected mention of the NFYV Abington High, the FUTURE base of operations which has ala most finished rising over a Highland Avenue landscape. It will not only serve as a place of education to the area's teen-agers, but will become an important center of activity for the community as well. Now our view of the future has brightened and leaped into lucid focus. for this new building as an up-to-date and modern exten- sion of the old Abington. will be intrumental in molding the future of the school, the com- munity, and many thousands of Abingtonians to follow . . . YVC now have a reasonably good prediction for Abington, - but the final prophecy is left to you. We want you to make your per- sonal prediction . . . for it is only through your own impressions that you will be able to conceive of your school's future. And so, when you turn this page and em- bark upon the many facets of your high sch00l's meaningful present, we ask you to bear in mind the consequences of its even more lustrous and brilliant future. The peo- ple and personalities in the succeeding pages, and what they have done, we like to believe, is going to have a profound effect on the world to come.
