Abington in Song and Story This is the theme selected by the 1952 Oracle staff. One will often hear loyal Ahingtonians singing of their Alma Mater! And why not? We may be justly proud of Abington-our high school which has flourished and developed into a fine institution, a leader among other schools. Let us review our activities in song and story. Remember how we beat a familiar path to the gym for those all- school assemblies and pep rallies. It was there we were apt to sing lustily of our victories in football, hockey and track. 1952 was the year that our undefeated rifle team set a unique record and became the champions of Eastern Pennsylvania. The Oracle, Abingtonian, and Yearbook inspired praise. Our hearts warmed with the first honors bestowed upon all three publications at Reading. Abington is certainly musically minded. ,lust listen to the lively marches of the A.H.S. band! The strains of our favorite school songs are music to our ears. Both the vocal and the instrumental departments have done outstanding work in concerts and solo parts. Our high school ranks high in academic achievements. Colleges through- out the country report the outstanding records set by former Abingtonians. This information deserves some sharp tooting of horns. Let's stroll over to the athletic field. Do you recall how often we boasted of having some of the newest and finest athletic facilities in Eastern Pennsylvania? Visitors often comment on our modern gymnasium. It would be hard to find a picture quite so lovely as Abington High School in the autumn when the trees have turned to hues of purple and gold. How easy to hum, All hail to thee, our Alma Mater.
