Principal Administrator, counselor, judge, director—the principal is the hub of all the varied activities in a complex modern high school. Mr. Gernert is more than a principal; he is a friend. It was to him we went with all our problems, both individual and collective. Through his patience, kindness, and understanding, we found not only the solutions to our day-to-day difficulties, but also a deep and lasting sense of justice and personal integrity. Our interests and those of Abington High School were always uppermost in his mind. Thanks to his efforts, we enjoyed privileges unknown in other schools. To Mr. Gernert we undoubtedly owe a great measure of whatever success the class of 1948 may achieve. Mr. Gernert at Work Busy Secretaries, Miss Moore and Miss Zitzer

Dr. Raymond H. White, Superintendent To make any school great, more than faculty and students must do their share; a group of citizens who see the school as an important part of the community also play an important role. Dr. White, superintendent, and the members of the School Board have a vital interest in the welfare of Abington’s young people. These men and women help maintain the high standards established for us in the years since 1888. Sixty years ago, when the first class of three graduated, the School Board had a comparatively small task. Today it has one of the most important jobs in the township. The class of 1948 salutes and sincerely thanks its School Board and superintendent. School Board Board of Directors F. Carter Schaub, President Evelyn Glazier Henzel, Vice-President Edward G.
