Hockey Ernie in the mud again! A flue (Iip I ft 211 I ! Under the able coaching of Mrs. Jane Scott Triol, the hockey team almost broke even this year with a final record of three wins, four losses, and one tie. The first game, with the maids from Doylestown, resulted in the only deadlock of the season. Then after receiving their first setback in a game with Ambler, the Ghostettes hit their stride. Jenkintown, Springfield, and Norristown all fell in quick succession as the girls bagged a total of nine goals to their opponents’ one for the three games. However, this winning streak ended at three as Radnor’s undefeated hockey eleven beat the Maroons, 2-1, and Cheltenham eked out a 1-0 victory for the darkest spot of the season, followed by a defeat at the hands of Abington Friends in the final game. After an impressive trouncing of Episcopal, 4-1, the hooters staged a final period rally of three goals in six minutes, only to lose to Frankford, 4-3. The Ghosts closed the season by defeating a crack alumni team, 3-2. From the Maroons’ 15 lettermen, four All-Suburban players were chosen. On the first team were Captain Norm Green, two-year goal tender; wing Tom Dunlap, high scorer and winner of this honor last year; and halfback Tony Washofsky, junior playing first year varsity.
