The Ghosts proved that their first victory was no fluke when they clashed with their first league rival the following week. “Triplett Sparks Abington in 19-0 Win over Haverford.” The big game, however came two weeks later, and what a heartbreaker that was! “Lower Merion Rallies to Win.” For three full periods a valiant Ghost line completely outfought the more experienced Lower Merion forward wall, which outweighed them twenty pounds per man, only to see a 14-0 lead vanish into thin air as the undefeated Ardmorites poured across three last-period touchdowns to win, 21-14. “Abington Beats Bristol, 18-6.” The “breather” turned out to be a pretty tough game, but the following week brought more league action and a still greater test of the York Roaders’ strength. “Blocked Kicks Aid Abington As Upper Darby Falls, 12-0.” Then, another hard fought battle and well-earned 12-0 victory. “Abington Triumphs over Norristown.” But one more bitter pill was yet to come. “Chester Defeats Abington in Mud Battle.” Will we ever forget that cold, wet, sloppy sea of mud at Chester? However, we wound up the season on a much happier note.. “Abington Wallops Radnor, 26-6.” Final record: six wins, two losses; league standing, second. ■« Burnett Around End
