Principal Administrator, counselor, judge, director—the principal is the hub of all the varied activities in a complex modern high school. Mr. Gernert is more than a principal; he is a friend. It was to him we went with all our problems, both individual and collective. Through his patience, kindness, and understanding, we found not only the solutions to our day-to-day difficulties, but also a deep and lasting sense of justice and personal integrity. Our interests and those of Abington High School were always uppermost in his mind. Thanks to his efforts, we enjoyed privileges unknown in other schools.
