Yearbook Editors As we take our first walking steps down the path of life, we will become increasingly aware of the word success” Success is usually associated with the attainment of wealth, favor, fame, or position. However, I believe such accomplishments are only a small part of success; true success is personal satisfaction. Satisfaction in having attained individual integrity and knowing that you have given the best that you have to give. Only in serving man through God may we find true wealth. These groups have only one thing in common. They are made up of individuals. The Class of 1968 is made up of individuals and as individuals you will be judged by your college, your technical school, your employer, your military unit. Your abilities, skills, characteristics, manners, appearance, personality and beliefs will be the basis of the judgment. Success or failure will be an individual thing. The joy of success or the heartaches of failure may be shared by many but can be achieved only by you. The Group may be attractive, the cause worthy but you, the individual, are the one who will make a success or failure of your life. To each member of the Class of 1968 I offer congratulations on your accomplish- ments and I wish you health and happiness throughout your life. Sincerely, John A. The apartment Candids MISS ABINGTON Class FRESHMAN YEAR To be or not to be; well, we were. Our most enlightening year, our freshman year, our class of 68 entered with anxious minds to bear the whips and scorns of outrageous faculty. Alas, we elected Master John Bancroft who leadeth the pack, Sir Peter Lawson who cometh second. Lady Janis Doonan writer of manuscripts, and tax collector, the “Bonnie” Maiden Welsh. ’Twas on our first Thanksgiving Rally that turkeys ran afoul amongst male cheer- leaders. Remember how this too too solid foundation did crack from the force of fire crackers in Miss Barrett’s room? Our fervent studies were delayed by an oppressor's wrong—for a potential bomb had us fleeing to the gym. Will Janet, Colette or Peter ever forget the daggers in senior's smiles? Aye, those trappings of lipstick, magic marker, and tape did make them look ever so meek. Master Gerald Corcoran putteth Michael O'Connor in his place—the wastebasket. Then, Mr. O'Donnell never didst realize the tear in the arras of his attire. And whoever said, What's in a name?” never knew Mr. Delmar Smiley. Remember how several barefoot lasses helped Mrs. Robinson contact her missing lense. Always in our minds will remain the image of those squirt guns and Miss Glinski’s most unkindest sentence of all. At the close of our freshman year, our class set aside thirty students and it wasn't to the Honor Society!! SOPHOMORE YEAR We had done the deed—our freshman year had cometh and gone. Now as sopho- mores, we were to be guided by the undaunted leadership of Sir John Feeney and Lady Kathryn West, second in command; our keeper of monies, Maiden Sharon Dwyer, and scribe, Janis Doonan. Wilt thou ever forget: —Young squires’ attempts to produce a cheap source of electric current in biology which ended in a shocking experience for all. —Sandman’s grinding classes on the English language. —How we were bless'd with the arrival of one William Henry Hibbard. —Mr. Medaglia’s original asides. —How the combined faculties jump’d at the chance to put down the WMEX Good Guys. —When Manhasset and AHS exchanged musical views to the enjoyment of all. —The day a few fair maidens exchanged their ordinary dress for color-clashing com- binations. —And lo’ our school-a-baloos and the Sophomore Hop. -—When Golden Boy Paquette was T.K.O.’d by Billy the Kid. —Dave Mortimer’s crayfish in Mr. Crahan's room. —Steve Cass’ leap to freedom from the second floor window. —The Playboy centerfold in the third floor boy’s room. —The pedalling pangs of the girl’s cycle-circle to Duxbury. —A breathless lad called Bancroft whose beach excursion almost ended in a long hike home. 66 History JUNIOR YEAR On the arrival of our Junior Year, King John Feeney reigneth with a court consist- ing of Sir Peter Lawson and Ladies Jam's Doonan and Sharon Dwyer. Halloween s ghost and ghouls were in ghastly array, but Leo's leaky grapefruit saved the day. Cleaves held a mysterious appeal to the fearless grave-stabbing adventures and has since placed a hex on Danny Gillis. We experienced the perfect tragedy with the loss of Mrs. Dragonas. The magazine LSD went to pot. Never hath any person stopped traffic on St. Patrick’s Day as Master Mulcahy in his kilt. Such individualism as did reign with him was displayed by the classroom in the round, turtleheads and the beat beat drums” Finally we succumbed to the onslaught of automation and held a computer dance. With wine bottles and side walk cafe's, our Evening in Paris” was made complete by the coronation of our queen, Roberta. O how proud were we of our most worthy state champ; miler Jon Greenlaw. We can hardly forget the courageous end of the year speech made by our President. SENIOR YEAR Chivalrous Cheverie, Noble Nolan, Dutiful Doonan and Devilish Dwyer, with ambition of highest sort set out to make memorable our senior year. We won't ever forget: When our class forged onward with another big event with our senior dance and the l our Muskateers where the weather that night was more foul than fair. Senior boys learn d that Hades hath no fury like a woman’s scorn when they were revenged by a grenade after having thrown a barrage of green apples at Karen Ander- son's pajama part)'. With all good speed, Denise conducted a tour of the third floor via wastebasket express. ' And cast from heaven and perdition, Stephen Enright and cycle-clad friends raised cain at the senior-baloo. —Our senior boys succeeded in bringing a little Christmas cheer to the AHS cafeteria. The winter of discontent drew nigh as midyears advanced and damned was he ..ho first cried, Stop, enough!!” The deafening roar of silence resoundeth as Miss Gearin answered her own ques- tions. Noiscmakers, party hats, and intoxication lollipops added to the merriment of Roberta's birthday party. —The kindness and understanding showed to the senior girls by Miss Crooks. —To continue our never ending quest for good times, we held a successful semi- formal in hopes that such an event will be repeated annually. A soggy submarine supper held by our favorite Foxboro Fliers presenting Mr. Byron with his distinguished speech on Mental Health in AHS. The underclassmen are left without a Regiment or troupe to make” the School-a-baloos. 2. The senior members of the Field Hockey team leave Vicki Divoll a brownie. 3. To the sophomore class, we leave fake I.D.'s so that they can buy glue at Rip’s. 4. We leave the bus drivers a free course at Hilda Foster’s Driving School. 5. Humper, Doug, Pink, and Bud leave a case of Private Stock for the Teacher’s Room refrigerator. 6. Elaine and Roberta leave ANNIE Walls in complete charge of the cheering squad. 7. We leave Mr. Byron next year’s Tech Tourney Championship. 8. To Mrs. Rosen we leave the complete adventures of Sherlock Holmes to help her brush up on her methods. 9. Mrs. Mott’s Monday Morning Modern Math Methods Class and George Orwell leave Mrs. Mott a new Animal Farm”. 10. To Mrs. Walsh we leave a pacifier—and not for the baby. 11. We leave Mr. Corcoran a tin badge and a billy club for his cafeteria beat. 12. Chev and Jake leave their locker to Pat Funk in hopes that she will carry on the honored tradition. 13. We leave Miss Frame a plant for her very own library. 14. Sandy May leaves her collection of stuffed animals for Mr. Paster to play with during 7th period study. 15. The Senior girls leave the Junior girls a little more class. 16. In hopes that we will soon be represented in the hippie rebellion,” A1 Marchino leaves Walter Larmey and Wayne Hamlet whatever it is makes them groove. 91 17. We leave Laurie Warren a sheep dog. 18. Jeanne O'Leary and Gail Eranzen leave Ann Gregory nine more hours of detention. 19. Chris Grillo leaves PeeWee a wash cloth to use on that mouth of hers. 20. We leave Miss Gearin nibbling on her tasty tid-bits. 21. Certain senior girls leave Miss Rooney a white mouse. 22. To Mr. Divoll we leave an Oscar for services above and beyond the call of duty. 23. We leave Mr. Trimble our gratitude for his all out efforts. 24. We leave Mary-Jane Pitts sniffing. 25. Roberta, Karen, Judy, and Eileen leave wondering about a direct line from the girls room to Mr. Myers. 26. We leave Mr. Byron a Santa Claus that comes more than once a year. 27. We leave Mr. Milton dropping his jaw. 28. Suzanne Brady and Sharon Burke leave Miss Milan a motorized broom. 29. We leave Mr. Doughty a copy of Our American Heritage. 30. The Senior girls leave the Junior girls to the Junior boys. 31. We leave Dale Whitmarsh begging. 32. We leave the underclassmen two new traditions; the class numerals and class tree. 33. We leave Miss Gearin the clippings from Ray's Barber Shop. 34. We leave Miss Crooks the Honor Athlete System.” 35. Judy Spencer leaves Andrea Boyajian a popsicle to help keep her cool. 36.
