IOE FRANCIS EARL GLENN ROSE Two-year Ietterman One-'year Ietterman Guard Forward DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES The Abilene Eagles deteated the Odessa Bronchos two straight games to win the District 3AA championship in bas- ketball. The score in the tirst game Was 28-295 the score in the second was 34-35. In the first game Hershel Kirnbrell was the high point man. Gus Vletas received the honors in the second game. By beating Odessa these two games, Abilene Won their sixth championship in eight years. GUY DANIEL One-year Ietterman Guard 5' 'x.,,,- MARION GRANT Three-year ls-tterman Guard BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES BILLY MURPI-IEY Two-year Ietterman Forward In two rough-and-tumble, slambang games at El Paso High School, the visiting Abilene Eagles came out on the short-end ot both games in the Bi-District series. The Tigers Won the first game 32-I7 and the second 33-3l. The score at the end of the game Was a tie 3l-31, but by playing two over-time periods El Paso High managed to beat the hard-trying Eagles, led by I-lershel Kimbrell. Although the Eagles lost, Kimbrell was recognized by sports writers as being the best player on the court. The tall, lanky Eagle Was high-point man ot the series.
