FRED LEE HUGHES-HUGH CLARK Student Managers F 0 CD T B lk L L ABILENE O-SAN ANGELO 46 ln a hard-fought Thanksgiving Day game witnessed by eleven thousand spectators, three thousand of them being Abilenians, the Abilene Eagles yielded to the powerful San Angelo Bobcats, in the championship game, 46-U. The Eagles found it impossible to stop the Bobcats, but in the second quar- ter, the Warbird Warriors made a concentrated air attack, completing four passes from the arm of Harrison to Francis, Terry, Buford, and Bose, respectively. The forward wall, led by Grant, Vletas, and Bailey, made San Angelo pay a high price for a hard-earned victory. Aggressiveness, teamwork, and the ability to remain cool under pressure, gained the Eagles of l944 recognition throughout the state.
