The members of the Sons and Daughters of Legionnaires sought to preserve memories and incidents of the World War and to promote patriotism, peace, and good citizenship among the students ot Abilene High School. Besides upholding these principles, the club assisted in selling poppies before Memorial Day. During the spring the initial payment was made on a plague memorializing the World 'War dead.
