BILL McCLURE Backfield Coach A former Abilene high school star and a four-year letterman at ACC as quarterback and linebacker is the backfield coach, Bill McClure. After graduation from ACC in 1948, he served as an assistant coach and physical education instructor. McClure also coaches the “B” basketball team, which turned in a GUY SCRUGGS After pitching for the baseball team at Thorp Spring Christian College and for several semi-pro clubs, Guy Scruggs decided to settle down as assistant coach and principal of the high school at ACC in 1924. The Wildcats were solid favorites all right, but no one suspected they would rout the Indians into a 58 to 13 defeat. Everybody on the team and his brother, so to Oct. 27—ACC 21, Midwestern 13. Another Midwestern University homecoming was besmirched by a smooth-working Wildcat offensive. ACC gained almost at will but produced only a 21 to 13 Nov. 3—Texas A I 14, ACC 13. The alert, hustling Javelinas swapped touchdown for touchdown with the Wildcats until each team had scored two. The difference came in the sec- ond extra point the Hogs booted. All of the scoring was done in the first half. The Javelinas, inspired by their one-point lead, played a brilliant de- fensive game in the last half to clog the Wildcat offensive at crucial points to protect the lead. It was a tough one for the Purple to lose, but they took it on the chin and figured they could win the rest of them. He was in the school quartet last year. He is now president of A Club and of Frater Sodalis. BOB BAILEY from Abilene has been a mem- ber of the House of Representatives for four years. The council endeavors continuously to maintain and promote the excellent relation- ship between the student body and the administration of the college. Membership includes approximately the top ten per cent scholastically of the junior, senior, and graduation classes. Initiations are held each fall and spring. Sponsors are Dr. Paul C. Witt, Dr. Floyd Dunn, and Leonard Burford. The A Club enjoyed one of its most successful years during this, its 35th anniversary year. Out- standing leadership, scholarship, and character among men students on the campus was recognized by the election of new members into the club. The A Club contributes to a worthy project each year as they did this year. The annual A Club Benefit Show was a highlight of the year and proved to be the most successful show ever given in the history of the club.
