The 9th Grade Abe Hubert Junior High Buffs ended their 1974- 75 season with a record of 4-1. Their one loss was to Dodge City '26-20, in which the game went into 2 overtimes. Their 4 wins were over Liberal West 22-8, Ulysses 60-O, Lamar 8-6, and Liber- al South 20-O. The whole team compiled a total offense of 1, 596 yards during the season, with an average of 319 yards a game. They held their opponents to 711 yards during the season, with an average of 142 yards a game. The team's leading ground gainer was Jerry Bevan who gained 498 yards during the season. The run- ner up to that was Chuck Nelson who gained 287 yards during the season. Ernest Hernandez was just behind Chuck Nelson and he gained 272 yards. The other runner Willie Pickering gained 213 yards missing the last game of the season. Their coaches Darrell Nelson, headcoach and, Don Powell, assistant coach, really did a good job with the players. tai

The 1974-75 Abe Hubert 8th grade football season ended with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. 1 of their 3 wins was over Hays, 8-0. Their other two wins were over Liberal South, 6-0, and 7th grade, 6-0. Their 4 losses were to Liberal West, O-285 Dodge City, 0-223 Ulysses, 8-125 and Dodge City a second time, 6-28. The leading ground-gainer was Bryan Huelskamp, who rushed 91 times for 891 yards, with an average of 8.6 yards per carry. The second leading ground-gainer was Stan Carrool, who ran the ball S4 times for 212 yards, with an average of 4.0 yards per carry. The over- all season captains were on offense, Del Ray Mounts, and Stan Carroll. Defense captains were Joe Ortega and jon Rutter. The most improved player in all around play was Steve Alpers. The eighth grade team was coached by Mr. Dudley Fryman, and Mr. Steve Stucky. The managers were Bill Long and Eric Knoll.
