(Sjoretaorb Abbot Academy was one of the first incorporated schools for girls in the country. It was incorporated by Act of Legislature, February 26, 1829. Through the sacrifice and perseverance of those who had faith in the education of women it was founded and through the constant and loving service of its principals, trustees, faculty, students and friends, it has grown through the years. Those who have gone away from the school have established its ideals, and it is the task of those who are now here to carry on those ideals for the sake of those who are to come.
