Miss Verna Tra- han is retiring after 20 Vi years with that interrogative attitude. Students and colleagues at three Vermilion Parish high schools, however, can ad- vise Miss Verna that she need not question her ac- complishments, that she has been effective as a teacher in the fields of Speech, American History, Typing, and Civics during a fruitful score of years. This concerned lady has prompted learning at Kaplan, E, Broussard, and Abbeville high schools with such scope that even the least interested looked forward to current events assignments. This is supported by student testi- mony and response during her nine years with Civics at AHS. Her ability had to be effective, what with special training at three state Universities, USL, LSU, and McNeese. Miss Verna's students and colleagues have never questioned her accomplishments, nor her talents at needlepoint, ceramics, and oth- er crafts. These talents will provide a business association for her during returement. The AHS administration, faculty, staff, and stu- dent body wish for Miss Verna Trahan good times and good health in her little shop on the Kaplan highway. Miss Verna Trahan 4 ft 4 ft ft 4 ft I 4 ft 4 ft ED ft 4 ft Love, respect, and admiration will follow Mrs. Laura Gaspard wherever her retire- ment takes her. She has truly earned these tributes during 20 years of dedication at instill- ing knowledge and values into the minds and hearts of young people at three Ver- milion Parish high schools. Mrs Gaspard has worked beyond the classroom establishing a pilot program in Business English, initiating demonstration les- sons in English Composition, serving as a member of the English Curriculum Commit- tee. attending Linguistics and Semantics Seminars as a parish educational system re- presentative. Lives of her students and colleagues at Henry, Erath, and Abbeville high schools have been modified by this grand lady's teaching ability and sharing influence. Nev- er in 20 years has she had to send a student to the principal's office. Regretting the loss of such a forceful but pleasant member of our school community, the administration, faculty, staff, and stu- dent body who love, respect, and admire Mrs. Laura Gaspard wish her good health, complete happiness, and full enjoyment of her family, friends, and endeavors during her retirement.
