Sutherland. 1959 QUIVER 1960 ( WOONSOCKET CALL”, NOVEMBER 5, 1959) The CSPA was set up in 1949 by Columbia University to establish a system of grading yearbooks for the quality of their content as the photo-journalistic report or record of all school activities for a given year. The books are judged by classes: college, high school, etc. They are considered in the light of their plan, layout, content coverage, photography, photo-engraving or offset, printing and typography, paper stock and cover, and other considerations. The 1959 Quiver was praised for its plan, the quality of its photography, and its attractive cover. Miss Francoise B. Valcourt and Miss Ethel E. McCombe, Quiver literary and financial advisers, received the notice of their score and criticisms this week. They expressed appreciation for the award and cited the hard work and perseverence of the Quiver literary, advertising, and subscription committees that made the award possible. The advisers noted that the yearbook was the product of these students’ work and that without them the Quiver would never have come about. They said they have great hopes that members of this year’s graduating class will be able to produce a book of first place standing. Marjory Miller was assistant to Miss Valcourt and Elizabeth Hughes served as editor-in-chief. Susan Dubuc and Andrea Kogut were co-editors and Sharon Dumas and Alice Lovell were their assistants. Artists were Ruth Macktez, Barbara Burak, Julie Nadeau, Kathleen Corrigan and Joseph Bonin. Raymond Zarychta and William Smith were sports editors.
