Q Spring Festival weekend, 1958 featured Rogers 8c Ham- merstein's Caramel interpreted by the University Players, University Singers and Orchestra. Ed Clifford as the shiftless carousel barker Billy Bigelow who captured the heart and caused the heartache of Julie jordan, portrayed by Pat Zapf, was additionally supported by Keith Honold as Jigger. Pat Astolos as Carrie Pippe- ridge, Chuck Kovac as Mr. Snow, Ruth Beall as Mrs. Mul- lin, joan Stelzner as Billy's daughter Louise, and the other University Players, Singers, dancers and musicians, all of Whom particularly felt and interpretated the full emotional impact of the climaxing Rogers and Hammerstein classic, You'll Never Walk Alone.

Pat Astolos, Keith Honold, Sonja Schoenbohm, Mary Ann Banke Judy Eheim Ed Clifford Bob Lange Ruth Beaill Pat Zapf The Consul The Covzml by Gian-Carlo Menotti was presented through the combined efforts of the music department and the drama department. It was a bitter satire on bure- aucracy and dealt with the misfortunes that overtook the family of john Sorel who, because of his underground activities was forced to flee the country. john Sorel was played by Robert Lange, and the part of his wife, Magda, was played by Pat Zapf. The play centered around Magda as she attempted to obtain a visa. Menotti tried to capture the conversation of the world in the play by writing it in musical dialogue.

Universal Robots Take Stage R. U. R. was the first play presented by the University Players this year. The setting of the play was on an islandg the time was the future. Richard Lee portrayed the general manager of Rossum's Universal Robot factory and Mildred Anderson portrayed his wife, Helena. Helena, who was a humanitarian, suc- ceeded in humanizing a few of the robots. Imitating their masters, the robots became ringleaders and dreamed of world conquest. The play was a tense, suspenseful drama in which man fought a losing battle against a power which he himself created. The Workers of the World revolt.
