pupil personnel guidance I'm determined! I push my way through seniors screaming, Driver Ed., and seventh graders crying, Help! knocking over books and table in my way. Finally, I arrive at my destination-guidance. At the other end of the room, I spot my counselor being attacked by a mass of irate students, waving mistake-rid- den IBM schedules. I recognize the one leading the pack as the football player who was put in a home ec. class. I edge closer and barely hear my counselor shout, Be with you in a minute . . ., as he is swept into his office. Grabbing this precious time, I decide to cram for my math test. Immediately, two secretaries tear over to me and, as the dust clears, I find 3,000 papers in my lap, waiting to be alphabetized. After 2 hours of alphabetizing sans lunch, I very politely return the papers, only to be ousted for not having a pass. I WILL NOT GIVE UP! Faced with all problems from determining the budget to deciding what courses will be offered, he has ultimate re- sponsibility for all school activity. A friendly smile and a willingness to lis- ten characterize assistant principal, Mr. Stan- ley Bergesen. Directing the custodial crew and planning student scheduling head the list of Mr. Bergesen's charges. No North High student would consider the morning complete without hearing Mr. Ed Smith over the P.A. system. This year, Mr. Smith, who supervises the fire preven- tion program at North, is in charge of dis- cipline for grades seven through twelve. Dr. Harry IrvineQ who quietly slips into the back of the room when you're not look- ing, is the curriculum coordinator at North.
