DRAMA CLUB The Drama Club, the Drama De- partment, the Music Department, and the Stage Crew worked together in the production of Valley's many fine plays, talent shows, and musical come- dies. The clubis members rummaged for props and costumes, sold tickets, painted scenery, and decorated actors' faces. They learned about theater by participating in theater: helping the production along from a feeble begin- ning to a crashing finale, thrilling to the sights and sounds of a performance that they had helped to create. SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM The desire to become a well-round- ed, fast-thinking individual, and a wil- lingness to work hard and contribute time and effort were the requirements for membership on the Speech and De- bate Team. The speech tournaments in which the team participated provided invalu- able speaking experience and offered an opportunity to learn about a broad va- riety of subjects, as well as the oppor- tunity of meeting students with similar interests from all over Southern Cali- fornia. has , Mm.W-ei .- SEATED: Pat Chairez, Sherrie Couch, Barry Jaster, FIRST ROW.' They sponsored two candy sales in order to raise money for their various activities. The girls decorated the cafeteria for some of the sports banquets, they also served at some of these events. The third annual Spring Fashion Show was one of the most important projects of the year. The girls, who par- ticipated as models, made their own fashions and served tea for the mothers and guests following the program. TRI-Y Sponsored by the Young Womenis Christian Association of Santa Ana, the Tri-Y met in the YWCA clubhouse ev- ery two weeks. At the first of the year they held a get-acquainted tea. At Thanksgivingtime, they supplied a needy family with a Thanksgiving din- ner. The Christmas Fantasyfi a 'dance held in the Student Lounge at Santa Ana College, was a success due to much work and effort on the part of the Tri-Y girls. It was highlighted by the crowning of the king and queen, Her- man Grimes and Cheryl Vinson, who were chosen by the students attending the dance.

A few days prior to the banquet, the new club members were auctioned as slaves to other Valley stu- dents and sworn to faith- fully serve their masters un- til the banquet. The night of the banquet the slaves were released in a formal cere- mony. Those attending the banquet were served dinners consisting of many courses similar to those served in ancient Rome.
