Page Forty-two Class of '48-war babies--we came to the campus when enroll- ment Was at its lowest ebb and activities at a bare minimum. As sophmores we took the lead in many activities. Outstanding among our class mates were Ieane Warman, Madeleine Unger, Tom Hanlon, Ed Spang, Marjorie Crutcher and Ed Marrinan. Spring term saw a semblance of normalcy return to the campus with men in a vast majority for the first time in our college lives. '47 and a peak year for the Iunior class! Our own Ruth Meyer, sponsored by the Monogram Club, was chosen Homecoming Queen in an all-out campaign. Iuniors dominated her court with Marianna Monty, Madeleine Unger, Ieane Warman, Mary Ellen Gunther, and Patty Iustice as attendants. Stan Groene and Bill Bachus were our football heroes. Lone representative on the basketball squad was Iim Finke. We named Al Suttman, lim Finke, Mary Ann Kessen and Tom Hanlon our class of- ficers. Big event on the social calendar was the Valentine's Day Iunior Promenade at Lakeside. Marianna Monty reigned as queen. Student Council representatives included Tom Hanlon, Madeleine Unger, and Tom McGuire. A1 Diringer edited the Daytonian . UD News staff includ- ed Gene Vonderembse, Rita McGarry, Ieane Warman, and Iim Millard. Came spring-the musical show, concerts, Military Ball-and there you have it-our Iunior year.
