DEAN OF STUDENTS Trojans can come to Dr. Robert Downey with any problems of personal, so- cial, or academic nature. It is his responsibility to guide the students of USC through their four years of university life. Dr. Downey came to Troy well pre- pared for his job. USC was his alma mater and he served as the head of the men ' s physical education department at Los Angeles State College. THOMAS P. NICKELL, JR. VICE - PRESIDENT, UNIVERSITY PLANNING Thomas P. Nickell, Jr. could be called the man with the money. He has been the Alumni Fund Director, Di- rector of Fund-Raising, and Director of Development at use. He received his B.S. in Marketing and Advertising from this University in 1948. Mr. Nickell is from Indiana, where he attended Butler University. He is a member of Alpha Delta Sigma and Skull and Dagger. Last, but not least, he is the father of five children. 25

ir ASSISTANTS TO THE DEAN Listening to problems, giving advice and lending a hand to students in difficulty, are the two Assistant Deans, Dr. William McGrath and Mrs. Joan Schaefer. Aside from their official duties as counselors to men and women, these two busy people find time to meet and mix with the student population. They advise and help coordinate many men ' s and women ' s organizations. Their office doors are always open to Trojans, and they emphasize, You don ' t have to have problem to come and see us!
