Ask any student, alumnae, pro- fessor, or staff member about the Accents of Georgia, and you ' ll find a different perspec- tive each and every time. The University of Georgia is in a constant state of changes and improvements. Students became more open when it came to expressing opinions. Rallies at the Tate Student Center plaza included everything from encouraging environmental issues to pros and cons about the Confederate sym- bol being a part of the Georgia state flag. The administration had to take charge and require students to get a measles vaccina- tion shot with the epidemic spreading rap- idly amongst our neighbor schools. Groups were formed to support the coming of the Olympics t o Atlanta in 1996. The guberna- torial race between Isakson and Miller brought many opinions to the surface. On campus, the chapel received a new facelift. The building now has restrooms, air conditioning and a fire alarm system. Contractors broke ground at Sanford Stadi- um in order to increase the number of seats for next season. The former Home Econom- ics School changed its name to Family and Consumer Sciences to better represent its purposes. And to round out this eventful year the Diamond Dogs brought home the National Championship trophy. Yes, the Classic City is a terrific place to be for exciting times.
