BATTERY B Mount Pleasant, Texas Battery B, lst Howitzer Battalion 1105 mml1SPl, 132nd Artillery was organized and Federally recognized 7 April 1947 as Battery B, 646th Armored Field Artillery Battalion with station at Mount Pleasant, Texas. With other elements ot the 646th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, as then organized, the battery perpetuates the history of the lst Battalion, l32nd Field Artillery Regiment, redesignated and reorganized on 1 February 1942 as the l32nd Field Artillery Battalion, With participation credit for the NAPLES-FOGGIA Cwith arrowheadl, ANZIO, ROME-ARNO, SOUTHERN FRANCE fwith arrowheadl, ARDENNES-ALSACE, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE campaigns oi World War 11, a campaign streamer without inscription for World War I, and a French Croix de Guerre with Palm, World War I1 streamer embroidered VOSGES. The battery also perpetuates the history of Battery B, 557th Field Artillery Battalion, reconstituted as an element oi the 646th Armored Artillery Battalion on 2 luly 1946, With participation credit for the NORTHERN FRANCE, AR- DENNES-ALSACE, RHINELAND and CENTRAL EUROPE campaigns oi World War 11. The battery received its current designation on 16 March 1959. Battery commanders have been Captain loe L. Miller, April 1947-May 1950, First Lieutenant ,William T. Mau- zey, May 1950-Iune 1951, Captain William VV. Grisham, lr., Iune 1951-September 1953, Captain lohn A. Wilhite, September 1953-March 1957, Captain Carl H. Thomas, March 1957-Iune 1957, Captain Phineas O. Hassell, lune 1957 to date. BATTERY C Paris, Texas Battery C, lst Howitzer Battalion C105 mmJ1SPl, 132nd Artillery was organized and Federally recognized 18 February 1948 as the 866th Medical Collecting Company. It perpetuates the history of the 500th Medical Collecting Company, 210th Medical Battalion with participation credit tor the NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, RHINELAND and CENTRAL EUROPE campaigns oi World War 11. In addition, the unit Was awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation streamer and received a French Croix de Guerre with Palm, World War II streamer embroidered NORMANDY. On 30 November 1949 the 866th Medical Collecting Company was reorganized and redesignated Company A, 117th Armored Medical Battalion. It was converted, reorganized and redesignated as Battery C, lst Howitzer Bat- talion 1l05 mmlCSPl, 132nd Artillery on 16 March 1959. Unit commanders have been Second Lieutenant William F. Locke, February 1948-lanuary 1949, Second Lieu- tenant Hubert L. Iackson, Ianuary 1949-March 1950, Captain Paul I. Lane, March 1950-February 1952, Captain Mark F. Roden, February 1952-May 1956, Captain Hubert L. Iackson, May 1956-March 1959, and Captain Billy H. Thompson, March 1959 to date. SERVICE BATTERY Paris, Texas Service Battery, lst Howitzer Battalion 1105 mml1SPl, 132nd Artillery was organized and Federally reco- nized 19 December 1946 as Service Battery, 646th Armored Field Artillery Battalion with station at Paris, Texas.
