The lst Battalion ,132nd Field Artillery Regiment, reorganized and redesignated at Camp BoWie,BroWnWood, Texas on 1 February 1942 as the l32nd Field Artillery Battalion, had participation credit tor the NAPLES-FOGGIA Cwith arrowheadl, ANZIO, ROME-ARNO, SVOUJLHXEVRN IFRANCE Cwith arrowheadj, ARDENNES-ALSACE, RHINELAND and CENTRAL EUROPE campaigns ot or ar . Additional honors of the l32nd Field Artillery Battalion included a World War 1 campaign streamer Without inscription and a French Croix de Guerre With Palm, World War ll streamer embroidered VOSGES. On 2 luly 1946 batteries A, B and C, Service Battery and Medical Detachment, 557th Field Artillery Battalion, organized in the Federal service, with participation credit tor the NORTHERN FRANCE, ARDENNES - ALSACE, RHINELAND and CENTRAL EUROPE campaigns of World War ll, were reconstituted as elements of and consoli- dated With their respective units ot the 646th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 646th Armored Field Artillery Battalion received its current desig- nation on 16 March 1959. Battalion commanders have been Lieutenant Colonel Woodson A. Cawthon, lanuary 1947-February 1957, and Lieutenant Colonel lohn E. Fielding, February 1957 to the present. Battery commanders have been Captain Robert C. In addition, the unit Was awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation streamer and received a French Croix de Guerre with Palm, World War II streamer embroidered NORMANDY. On 30 November 1949 the 866th Medical Collecting Company was reorganized and redesignated Company A, 117th Armored Medical Battalion. It was converted, reorganized and redesignated as Battery C, lst Howitzer Bat- talion 1l05 mmlCSPl, 132nd Artillery on 16 March 1959. Unit commanders have been Second Lieutenant William F.
