I'm Aezt ti2 ..... by Helena Ardholm The 6th annual talent show try-out was held in the auditorium February 2 under the supervision of Mrs.Johnstone, Mrs.Williams and Ms.Baca. The auditorium was one big kettle of emotions, talk and laughter. The subjects varied from their act to the coming Valentines-dance. Before the show started, Mrs. Johnstone and Mrs. Williams went through the rules and there were a lot of questions posted; too many to answer them all. Whatever you're trying out with has to do as Mrs. Williams finished, and John Davis, on his bike, started the try-out. I asked him how he felt about the talent show and if he was nervous and he answered: Actually I'm feeling pretty good. I've been in a lot of shows and I want to please the crowds with my number . The next day the results were posted outside the auditorium. The day of the talent show, the 4th, came up. The show was held 3rd and 4th hours before a sold out auditorium. The show started out with the hard rock band Ariah, consisting of Damon Lord, Wally Emerson, Dwayne Guerrerro and Derrick Bye who's number was greatly appriciated but not very well performed. Mr. Sellers and Ms. Cyphus, Ms. Conyers and Ms. Doran sang My Girl , a song dedicated to Mrs. Williams, the director of the talent show. The three background singers' dance was very popular. Arron Rimpley played the piano in candle light. He played Toccata in D-Minor . His act represented the classical genre and was very well performed. C’lose-up:Ann Armitagc, Amy Stucky, Matt Martindalc, Jason Gollhofcr, Lewis Russell. Kathy Williams. Royccc Hickman The closing number was the band Sulah Makahn that played Funky Town , which was the most outstanding number, the ovation went on several minutes. One thing I have to say about this years talent show, is that it was a big variety and high standard. I give the participants an eloge. The audience on the other hand acted really bad, a big disappointment. As everybody left, The Blues Brothers and Sisters played Mood Musicians . Everybody did a really good job, and the Master of Ceremonies, Phil Ginder, was satisfied too, been doing a great job. John Ashton. Mike Carlson, and Fontaine Burnett hang out backstage after their performance of “Funky Town”.
