The Best Team Yet!!! The Varsity football squad of 1965 will long be remembered as the finest team ever to be produced by head coach Bob Hitchcock and company. The Rams powered through all their competition with the combined efforts and determination of the entire squad. Spearheading the attack were fullback Bob Brown and Quarterback Greg Sawrey. By the end of the season, Temple City was rated number two in AAA competition, outrated only by West Covina. The season opener saw the Rams run over the Chino Cowboys 34 to l3. The next week, the team put out their best effort as they squeeked past Claremont 20 to l9. The next tilt saw the Rams shutout the San Gabriel Matadors with a 27 to 0 victory. After a l3 to T3 tie with Charter Oak, the Rams proceeded to roll up the highest score of the season for Homecoming as they frolicked over Bell Gardens 59 to 6. ln the next two weeks, the Rams put the South Pasadena Tigers in their tank and smashed La Canada with 28 to 6, and 28 to 7 victories respectively. At the following outing, the Rams faced a very determined San Marino team. However, in the traditional rivalry, Temple City handed the Titans a 2l to 6 loss against a fine passing attack. The last league tilt saw the Rams defeat the colorful Duarte Falcons in a 20 to 0 battle. On to C.l.F! After crushing Culver City 31 to l2 the Rams started cold against Sierra High School and were eliminated from further playoffs with a 14 to T4 tie with the Spartans. The team lost on a first down decision with only seven firsts to Sierra's sixteen. In the history of Temple City, this football team will be known as the finest squad the school ever produced. There may be teams that win C.l.F. but none will compare with the courage of the T965 Rams. The scoreboard tells the story as Temple City clobbered Bell Gardens.
