MIDDLE ROW fl-ri Frank Wener, John Coach Bob Stangel has a bright future with his young Jet Varsity Football Team, emerging with a winning season, at 5 and H and tieing for second place in the league. The many times sparkling line play, which included three sophomores, brought at least two highlights to the season, a I6-I3 win over Homestead and a 3h-l6 trouncing of San Jose at Homecoming. A number of players earned stand out honors: Steve Soltis, MVP, John Norman, Offensive Player of the Yearg and Larry Sourbeck, Defensive Player of the Year. All league honors for first offense were: Steve Soitis, back, John Norman, Quarterback, Larry Sourbeck, offensive line, and Bernie Moncallo, wide receiver. Included in the first team defense were Larry Sourbeck, downlineg Gary Robinson, and Jon Whiteman, linebacker, and Victor hphee, defensive back. Among the Jet honorable mention players were Dan Lawson, Wiley Cousins, . Jackson, Lee Foster, and Chuck Wilcox.

Jim Heckendorn lHeadl Steve Albrecht .1-' , Freshmen Football finished the year with the most success- ful season in the history of the school, completing the season with a record of 6 wins, no losses, and 2 ties. The ties in- cluded a hardfought no-decision with an outstanding Los Altos team ffirst time the Jet Frosh had ever not been beaten by the Knightsl and a 20-20 thriller against Lynbrook, that Viking tie meaning that the Frosh had to settle for a tie for the league championship, first ever by a Sunnyvale High School football team. The Jets were led by running back Steve Seeds, who was named most valuable player in the league. Doug Coover 'was chosen as best lineman in the league, while five other Jets George Farm, Andrew were picked as first team all-league. Quiroz, Robert Cisneros, Mark Trujillo, and Art Jaimes earned all-league honors while leading the Jet defense to four shut- outs during the rugged season. Scores t LW
