ILJEIE JTEII JGY' ERP?-sRILJ3lfL3N Ta TEJLLUI 'DY J: LES SESS St. Rita's Theology department is probably the best in Chicago's high schools, stated Br. Charles Prevender, chair- man of the Theology Department. Our department teachers work very well together and we have a great amount of input at our monthly departmental meetings which helps to establish a strong department. l'Fr. Murphy and I attend the St. Xavier Seminar on Religious Education so we are able to evaluate our department and it appears that we have the best, continued Br. Charles. Because Rita has the best Theology department it has been asked to review religious texts by Mr. Zimmerman. Mr. Zim- merman sends us his books about twice a year for a reviewg we have done this for the past several years and Mr. Zimmerman is grateful for the help we give him, said Br. Charles. 'Excellent teachers, guest speakers, and strong input all contributed to help the department succeed and hopefully things will not change too much next year, said Br. Charles. Br. Chris Howe will be leaving to continue his studies for the priesthood, and Br. Mark Thedens will be joining the Theology Department next year. Next year we are starting a Theology program for the slower freshmen students, said Br. Charles. i'We will also start discussing the possibility of electives in Theology courses and of having sophomores take Theology all year long. After the discussions on these proposals, they will be submitted to the Curriculum Council. Overall, our year was rather smooth and will basically be the same for next year, concluded Br. Charles.
