In reflecting upon your famous blue Monday conferences we have decided upon Mary, our Hope, as our theme. Today the world is darkened by despair and men are groping in search of the truth. The beacon light of hope gleams through this darkness. The source of this light is Mary, our Hope. In this Marian Year we wish to stress the necessity of placing our trust with Mary. As we cross the threshold from childhood to maturity and leave the com- paratively sheltered life of high school we shall often be beset by temptation. However, if we lay our destinies at the feet of Mary, she will provide for us. Thanks, Father Sheeran, for all your sound advice, your sympathetic understanding, your sacrificing spirit and your devotion. You will always remain in our hearts as a part of our life at St. Agnes. May God reward you! ,. x ,Ng f 4 .... .,,,.,,,,e, J N Q 5 Q5 1 xx . Q wig K . to Reverend Thomas B. Slieeran ASSISTANT PASTOR Dedication Administration Faculty Graduates Stu ctents Participants Attiietes Patrons Senior Directory 6 CW His Holiness Pope Pius XII This troubled and distressed world casts its eyes hopefully toward Christls Vicar on earth, the Holy Father. Realizing the immense task that lies before him, he has appealed to Mary for aid not only by pro- claiming the Dogma of the Assumption but also by dedicating 1954 to her honor as Marian Year. Let us follow the example of His Holiness and place our hopes for the future with Mary. nf? CWI Iam Most Reveren - . l , .3 , gy tsfit- In I hII, 1 Y llIlIII fl a. i is Thomas Molloy, D.D., S.T.D. ARCHBISHOP - BISHOP OF BROOKLYN Suffer the little children to come unto Mew might very well be used as the motto of Archbishop Molloy. Under his experienced tutelage the Catholic educational system of the Diocese of Brooklyn has afforded to many the op- portunities of a Catholic education. This system is not just for today but for generations to come. Archbishop Molloy is truly a champion of Catholic education and the hopes of the future rely on his untiring efforts. 8 Most Reveren Jol111 Board111an, D.D. Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn To bring the word of God to those outside the Faith, Bishop Boardman concentrates his ef- forts in supervising the mission societies which operate in the diocese. He can truly be called the hope of the missions because of his excellent work. He appeals to the faithful of the diocese to aid him in furthering his work. Most Reveren RGYIHOHJ Kearney ST. D., l.C.D. Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn By the administration of the sacraments and the supervision of the parishes Bishop Kearney aids Archbishop Molloy. Through his efforts the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine was estab- lished. Realizing that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow he provided a way where- by these future leaders could increase their knowledge of Catholicism. Catholics for genera- tions to come owe a great debt of thanks to Bishop Kearney. mam, if 'Y' pvf fe-M-W' 14 .,, . 1 5 5 . Q W' qs V' in lk A, bfi wet, Q W Mfr. Vi The Right Reverend Peter uealy, V. P To our very much beloved Monsignor, who has spared nothing in creating for the students of St. Agnes a monument to which all can look with proud and radiant hearts, we can offer nothing but our love and heartfelt appreci- ation for his sacrifices, his generosity, his blessed kindness. He is a living monument, the one priest who has served under the three bishops of the Diocese of Brooklyn. IO ,KAN K 6 x A . x if Y gf R .e,. 1 Reveren Nlichael 0'Farrell Curate Farther O'Fn1'rell's sincere understanding, his wurmtli, his genuine interest in every pupil enter- ing the portals of St. Agnes, have drawn him very rlose to the heart of each and every Agnesiun. Reveren Francis Wfilliams Curate To Father Williams whose beaming countenance scattcrs storm clouds and beckons the sunshine, who is ever present when we must cull upon his versatile talents und inspiring counsel, we ure most indebted for he has become a part of St, Agnes. Reverend Mother M. Bernadette cle Lourcles, Q.P PRINCIPAL I2 a ulty Within a few days the portals of St. Agnes shall close behind us for the last time. But let us now walk down the corridors, our footsteps echoing in the aura of tranquility. Looking into each class- room we recall the blessed face, often weary, often disconcerted, often smiling, that day after day had to draw back the curtains that released a flood of light to illumine our darkened minds. We sight our science and math teachers who were faced with the task of developing our minds to rapid and accurate reasoning. Our teachers of the finer arts imparted a dram of their culture that we might drink from the fountain of beauty. Con- tinuing along we sight our language and our history teachers who knew well the difficulty in the sowing and reaping until the harvest was produced. Our English teachers and our librarian by their untiring efforts taught us to appreciate fine literature woven with threads of a noble character. ln the gym- nasium we find our athletic coaches who have helped to build the adult of tomorrow. Finally we cast a loving glance upon our religion teachers, our official teachers, who have become a part of every- one of us, filling us with the word of God, inspiring us to know, love, and serve Him. Yes these are our beloved faculty members. They have dedicated their lives to the molding of our lives. May their life's work find favor with the Almighty Designerg may He ever reward them and fill their days with grace, happiness, and sweet Divine love. L. '1--ff ,I GR' . 5'-sf SISTER M, GREGORY, OP. In a large manner, our work in the debate and speech clubs has prepared us for adulthood, for the time when we, the hope of the Church Militant, must go forth in defense of all our Catholic doctrines and truths. Whether we orated in the intellec- tually brilliant style of a Demosthenes or a Cicero1 acted with all the finesse and dramatic ability characteristic of the greatest traditions of the American theatre, or debated with the logic and cool detachment of the finest lawyer, we gained invaluable knowledge, self-assurance and the ability to speak clearly and forcibly.
