l SOUTHWCJOD5 VER5ATILE COWBOY Russ Pennick served as Southwood's own Cowboy mascot for 1983-84. He attended camp at SMU in Dallas, with the cheerleading Squad. While at camp he captured the Super MascotAward. This coveted medal is issued to only a few mascots nationwide, and Russ proved to be most deserving of the award. He was an important part of the 1983-84 Cheerleading Squad, and will be remembered for such things as: his Cowboy cheery his big orange hat: true spirit leadership at ballgames, and most of all his ability to get along with females!!! 84 Roundup Spirit f 57

THE PERFECT 10 The 1983-84 Cheerleading Squad led the Southwood Cowboy tradition of spirit and pride. The Perfect 10 did in fact have a perfect year. They attend- ed camp at SMU, in Dallas, and received such awards as the Spirit Stick , the Super Squad Award, and numerous daily awards. In Southpark Cheerleader Competition they won 3rd place. Pep Rallies were remembered by such chants as SHS Rocks the House. Reflections of the past year bring such memories as: a brand new 10 member squad: a brand new sponsorg van trips to Baton Rouge to baseball state playoff game. Brookwood and Westwood Clinicsg our very own Coach Scott Atkinson, long hours of practice during summer vacation . . . Cheerleaders include: A 1. Kristine Phillips 6. Cheryl Guiden 2. Cathy Bailey 7.
