Society, the Student Council elections brought a whirlwind ol political activity to Southington High. Twice class President Duke Crise was voted by the Student Body to preside over the Council. Noreen Rich was chosen Vice-President and Karen Dutton, Secretary. In club ballotting, Larry D'.-Xngelo headed t1p the Key Club, George Malczyk the NHS, Maxine Plourd the FBLA, Lynn Doerfler the FNA, Donna Massaro the FTA, Maureen Phillips the Pep Club, Dan Tones the Photography Club, john Mattas the Language Club, Connie Pesce and Virginia Hurle the Drama Club, Connie Pesce and Larry D'Angelo the Chronicle, Louella Ouellette The Law Club and Al Furst the Emblem. Besides electing ten Council members, the class chose its offi- cers: Sam Longo QPres.j, Roger Sullivan tVice-Pres.j, Donna Cardinale QSec.j, and TVayne Chopus QTreas.j. 1t,wasn't a bad year if you liked to vote. The long-awaited senior year hnally rolled around and with it came all the big events-the Senior Play, The Man TVho Came to Dinner, starring Dan llones, Class Day, Class Night, the Chronicle unveiling, the Senior Prom Roman Gardens. Moreover we earned the right to terrorile freshmen. And even though Advisor Michael Patkoske had left us, we luckily found an energetic man, Arthur O'Brasky, who seemed to enjoy the festivities even more than we did. Now only a few short weeks remain. It was a good year-even if the Yankees didn't win the Vyforld Series. The big highlight for the following year was the -Tunior Prom held late in hlanuary. Our .-Xdvisor, working with the same slate of olhcers and literally almost the entire class, transformed the gymnasium into the dreamy mountain ski lodge, in a TVonder- land by Night. The next morning after it was over, Mr. Pat- koske, along with the clean-up committee, transformed the lodge back into a gym. Co-chairmen for the Prom: Bob Nigro and Noreen Rich. The king and queen, crowned by class President Duke Crise, were Ken Kopka and Gail DeBisschop. Only a step behind the Prom in attention-getting and excite- ment was the Homecoming weekend during October. Helen Lipstadt was chosen among ten candidates including classmates .Iayne Nlartin, Pat Stepensky, Kathy Farmer, Noreen Rich, Alanet Borowski and Pam Morse. Teen Antics, the Innior Play starring XValt Peidl, Susan Peterson, Elayne Nlartin, Chris Patl, Connie Pesce, and yrrrr D an -jones, was staged late in winter close on the heels of the Prom. J Mr, Patkoske and Mr, lhilip Coodrow directed. Besides notching up a first place in the Talent Show, the juniors also initiated a new Collegiate class ring trend at SHS. ln individual honors, Florence XX'right won the Junior Recital, Vic Cefaratti, allestate orchestra second year running, J XYalt leidl the Northern Connecticut Science Fair plus state and national awards, Larry D'Angelo the Harvard Book Prize. and special history award, and Nancy Ruth the D.A.R. History Prize and a French prize. Named to Nutmeg Boys' State were Ceorge Malcfyk, Alitn Potrepka, Duke Crise, Dave Carbone, Larry D'Angelo, and Ken Kopka, Donna Cardinale and Noreen Rich, who later won the D..X.R. Cood Citizenship Award, were Dan jones, 'ATIL1' Man I'Vlto Came to Dinner , fsctttctlj orders joe Olscwski to go and look 85 after the penguins . . . President's Address Dear Seniors: When you reflect upon the period of your lives which was spent at Southington high school . . . will these fours years be only a blur in your past . , . or will they represent so much more than this . . . A sense of belongingg a spirit of cooperationg a common prideg a sincere preparation for a successful and satisfying future. I am certain that you the members of the .class of 1965 are to be included among the latter group for, having worked with you this year as your class president, I have come to know you as the untiring and cheerful Workersg the thoughtful and understanding companionsg the spirited and exhuberant leaders.
